American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Central Valley Chapter Voluntary health organization dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by su***de through research, education, advocacy, and support.

Welcome to the Central Valley Chapter of the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention. We are centrally located in Modesto, CA and serve the following counties:

Alpine, Calaveras, Fresno, Inyo, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Mono, Stanislaus, Tulare, and Tuolumne

Our Board of Directors is made up of volunteers that include survivors of su***de loss and individuals with lived experience

, who are passionate about su***de prevention. We are dedicated to support AFSP's goal to reduce su***de 20% by 2025 through our community and education programs, local advocacy efforts, and by providing support & resources for those affected by su***de. Follow Us:

We’re deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Dolly Parton.

Dolly, who had recently posted about physical health issues, passed surrounded by loved ones, leaving behind an extraordinary legacy as a music legend, philanthropist, and mental health advocate.

In 2019, Dolly opened up about her struggles with depression and suicidal ideation, reminding us that even the most beloved and accomplished people can struggle with their mental health.

Thank you for everything, Dolly. We will always love you 💙

More people are reaching out for support — and 988 is answering. 💚

In 2025, 988 state contact centers saw a 12% increase in calls compared to 2024. Even better: 89% were answered in-state, which connected callers directly to local care when it mattered most.

Growth like this means two things: awareness is spreading, and people are taking that first step to find help.
