Yesterday afternoon, AIR101 was requested by Tuolumne County SAR to assist with an injured elderly hiker in the backcountry of the Emigrant Wilderness. The hiker had fallen down an embankment and sustained moderate injuries.

The hiker was located near Chewing Gum Lake at approximately 8,700 feet. AIR101 picked up SAR medics at Dodge Ridge and flew them to a meadow near the lake. The SAR medic and AIR101 crew then carried the packaged patient to the helicopter.

The patient was flown back to Dodge Ridge, where a waiting REACH Air Medical helicopter transported them to a local hospital for further treatment and care.

We’re grateful to everyone involved in this successful rescue effort.

Yesterday evening, AIR101 was requested by and for a report of a lost hiker near Wood Lake (8,200 ft) in the Emigrant Wilderness of Tuolumne County. The hiker had gone on a multi-day hike into the backcountry and became lost after snow patches covered the trail. Luckily, the hiker was able to utilize the SOS feature on his phone, providing Tuolumne Dispatch with his general location. AIR101 immediately responded, and a short time later the crew was able to locate the hiker uninjured. AIR101 identified a nearby granite plateau that was suitable for an offsite landing. The TFO was able to gain access to the hiker and bring him back to the helicopter. The hiker was then flown to Tuolumne County Deputies for further assistance.

This afternoon, AIR101 was overhead the area of Knights Ferry when a solo vehicle rollover occurred near CA-108 and Tulloch Road. AIR101 arrived overhead within minutes and located the crash. With no other first responders on scene yet, AIR101 landed in a nearby pasture to assist. The crew made contact with the two occupants pinned in the car. Shortly after, CAL FIRE Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit and CHP Sonora arrived on scene. The occupants were extricated from the vehicle and transported to local trauma centers for further care.

With the recent rain storms, we would like to remind everyone to slow down and drive safely.

The SSK9 Association and the Stanislaus Air Support Association teamed up again to provide hundreds of gifts to children through the .

Deputies, K9 Handlers, and decoys, helped Santa shop, wrap, and pass out gifts and stockings to multiple Children’s Crisis Center locations throughout the county.

A special thank you to and other supporters for being a big part of this annual event. We are fortunate and grateful to give back to children in need in the community.

Air101 was out horsin’ around last night during National Night Out, with two of the newest junior members of . Of course, Lucky and Blaze, are still in training and were curious how much horse power was under the hood of the helicopter. Air101 attended and flew over multiple gatherings throughout the county. It was a great turnout by the community! 🤠🐴
