Itβs Juneteenth, California π³οΈβππ³οΈββ§οΈ
For our Black LGBTQ+ folks, friends, and family, Pride and Juneteenth is an intersecting celebration of resilience, life, and love. Itβs a reminder of our ongoing fight for liberation. We fight forward together.
βMy Pride is Black, My Juneteenth is Q***rβ is a 2022 piece written by Preston D. Mitchum for Southern Poverty Law Center.
βLGBTQ people are not political wedge issues, but real people with real experiences. Our stories intersect not only across struggles, but across the landscape of American history and our united future,β Mitchum writes. βI now enter all spaces as both Black and q***r, and itβs the only way Iβm interested in showing up. Itβs also now what I mean when I say I need my Pride to be Black and my Juneteenth to be q***r.β
