"Ready to address excessive drinking in your life? Many people find peer support helps them take steps toward recovery. Two well-known self-help organizations built around peer support are Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Self-Management and Recovery Training (SMART Recovery). While some people seeking recovery even attend both programs, others forego both options."

Behavior is communication, and often someone’s behavior - as dysfunctional as it may be at times - is communicating a perceived need. Instead of us quickly passing judgment on a person due to their behavior, we should make an effort to understand why the person is behaving the way that they are in the first place.
Mental illness is complicated, and people with mental health disorders can be very confusing at times. We should take an hour to research a behavior before we start passing judgment on someone because of how they are behaving. There are too many things to know, and there's too much misinformation out there. It's very much worth the time and effort. Fight the stigma.
