⚓️ IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL ⚓️
Horatio Spafford had what many would call a successful life. He was wealthy, respected, and seemed to have everything going for him.
Then tragedy struck.
The Great Chicago Fire destroyed much of what he owned. Not long after, his wife and four daughters sailed across the Atlantic. During the voyage, their ship collided with another vessel and sank. His four daughters died. His wife survived and sent a heartbreaking telegram containing just two words:
"Saved alone."
Later, as Horatio traveled across the ocean near the place where his daughters had perished, he penned words that would become one of the most beloved hymns in Christian history:
"It is well with my soul."
He didn't write those words because life made sense.
He didn't write them because the pain was gone.
He wrote them in the middle of unimaginable grief.
That's the kind of peace only God can give.
Maybe you're walking through a season right now that you don't understand. Maybe the prayers seem unanswered, the loss feels overwhelming, or the future looks uncertain.
But sometimes, before the breakthrough comes...
Before the healing comes...
Before the answers come...
God teaches us to trust Him anyway.
To lift our eyes above the storm and say:
"It is well with my soul."
If you've ever had to trust God through pain, comment: "It is well."
