Thank you to everyone who joined us for the HABA Annual Meeting!

We were honored to welcome more than 100 attendees as we celebrated an incredible year of growth and accomplishments. Together, we marked an important milestone with HABA officially becoming a 501(c)(3) organization and welcomed new staff members to our team.

The evening was also an opportunity to give back. We were proud to present a check to an initiative that we have supported since the very beginning.

Meet Cindy!

Cindy is also a member of the Economic Development Project Group, and her project will be presented on September 10th, so make sure to come watch! As County Extension Director for the Alabama Cooperative Extension System through Auburn University, Cindy brings nearly 30 years of experience in youth development, leadership, and community engagement. She joined Leadership Mobile to strengthen her leadership skills, broaden her perspective, and continue making a positive impact in both her organization and the community. Cindy loves Mobile’s strong sense of community, rich culture, vibrant traditions, and amazing food. Known for being approachable, thoughtful, and community-focused, she values building trust and making a difference where it matters most.

We are especially proud to share that Cindy has also been serving as Secretary of HABA for the past 3 years, supporting the organization with dedication and commitment to our community.

Impact 100 Mobile is a wonderful example of women coming together to create meaningful change in our community through leadership, generosity, and collective giving.

This year, Impact 100 Mobile will award $180,000 in grants, including two $90,000 grants to selected nonprofit organizations making a difference in our region.

At HABA, we are excited and honored to be considered for this incredible opportunity. This grant could help expand our programs in entrepreneurship, workforce development, scholarships, cultural initiatives, and support for small businesses throughout our community.

Together, we can continue building bridges and creating lasting impact across the Gulf Coast.

The first meeting of the Hispanic American Business Association (HABA) was an incredible success. The Organizers for Mobile Latin fest !

The energy in the room was a direct reflection of the positive team environment we have built together. It was a space where everyone felt empowered to share their thoughts and provide honest feedback, which allowed everything to run smoothly and efficiently.

Seeing the collaboration firsthand makes it clear that we are moving in the right direction.

This foundation of open communication is what will drive our mission forward as we continue to grow and support our community.

We are just getting started, and the momentum from this first gathering has us more motivated than ever for what is to come.

We are proud to recognize Oliver Augusto Matos Reyes, a 12-year-old Latino student and local resident of Mobile, Alabama, whose remarkable achievements reflect the strength and potential of our diverse community.

Born in Venezuela, Oliver has been officially certified with an IQ of 146, placing him in the “very superior” range. After completing seven rigorous evaluations, he stands out as one of the brightest young minds of his generation in the United States, bringing pride to both the Latino community and the greater Mobile area.

El niño venezolano Oliver Augusto Matos Reyes, nacido en Barquisimeto, ha sido certificado oficialmentecon un coeficiente intelectual (IQ) de 146, una cifra que lo sitúa en el rango de “muy superior” o superdotación intelectual.

Tras superar con éxito siete rigurosos tests de medición, el pequeño ha demostrado estar muy por encima de los estándares escolares para su edad, consolidándose como una de las mentes más brillantes de su generación en Estados Unidos.

Este logro no es fortuito. Desde temprana edad, Oliver mostró capacidades excepcionales, lo que llevó a sus padres, la doctora Ann Reyes Herrera (Barquisimeto) y el doctor Alirio Matos (Falcón), a brindarle las herramientas necesarias a través de programas académicos avanzados, correspondientes a su nivel escolar.

Al preguntar a los padres de Oliver qué o que los hizo prestar atención a los talentos de Oliver, explicaron que desde los 2 años y medio ya leía de manera excelente, ahora tiene un nivel avanzado en lectura por lo cual ha recibido innumerables reconocimientos, también hace discursos y es un apasionado por la geografía e historia a nivel mundial. Una anécdota de Oliver cuando tenía 5 años es que tomaba el globo terráqueo y les indicaba con exactitud los nombres de los países con exactitud, y además conocía su población y su economía y todo lo relativo a ese país.
