ts and strive to increase public understanding of the labor movement. We are one of nearly 500 state and local labor councils of the AFL-CIO and are the heart of the labor movement. We are democratically elected bodies dedicated to represent the interests of working people at the state and local level. We mobilize our members and community partners to advocate for social and economic justice and we strive daily to vanquish oppression and make our communities better for all people—regardless of race, color, gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, or ethnic or national origin.

The National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive is this Saturday, May 8, and our partners at Feeding the Gulf Coast need volunteers to help make the day a success. They are asking for support from our unions, including members, retirees, and apprentices, to assist with sorting and handling donations.

Volunteers are needed from 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM at the following post office locations and volunteers needed:
• Airport (8)
• Bayside (10)
• Cottage Hill (8)
• Midtown (9)
• Springhill (10)
• Townwest (10)
• The Loop (9)

"With this move, Trump has effectively shut down the NLRB's operations, leaving the workers it defends on their own," AFL-CIO president Liz Shuler said in a statement.

President Trump fired National Labor Relations Board General Counsel Jennifer Abruzzo. In an unprecedented move, he also ousted Democratic board member Gwynne Wilcox, leaving the board with no quorum.
