BABY, THE COLLECTIVE PULLED UP TO NOLA! 🦋🖤

🖤 10 wigs
🖤 15 packs of braiding hair
🖤 30 comb and edge brush sets
🖤 Wig bands
🖤 15 ponytails
🖤 And hands ready to serve

The Black Butterfly Collective showed up as one of the hairstyling vendors supporting Pierré ScorpioFoxx West , Tru2daCommunity, and the NOLA community for Homeless Not Helpless.

This is what base building looks like to us. Not just meetings, panels and conversations, but showing up, sharing resources, doing somebody’s hair, passing the comb, jumping in where you’re needed and making sure people experience care with dignity.

To my Butterflies Taylor Danyaleand Jaide Alexandria , THANK YOU for showing up and showing out. 🦋 To the two community members who came over, picked up the braiding hair and helped braid and apply a wig, y’all were a whole blessing. Nobody had to ask. You saw a need and joined us. THAT is community.

Jake Smith , thank you for keeping us hydrated and making sure we had water.

Sincere Ali Porter , thank you for your care, love and support and for being right there beside me through it all. 🖤

And Pierre, friend, I’m proud of you. Thank you for creating space for people to be loved on, cared for and reminded that they matter. iloveyou

We didn’t come to NOLA to talk about community. We came to BE community. 🦋🖤

There’s something powerful about watching someone look in the mirror and see themselves again.

On August 29, Tay’lor and Myah are loading up and heading to New Orleans to volunteer with Tru2daCommunity’s Homeless But Not Helpless Transition Giveaway 2026. We’ll be doing what we love. Because sometimes healing starts with somebody taking the time to care for you.

We’re collecting donations to help us show up ready to serve. If you have any of the following, we’d love your support:

🤍 Braiding Hair
🤍 Ponytails
🤍 Edge Control
🤍 Got2B Glue (Gel & Spray)
🤍 Hair Ties
🤍 Combs
🤍 Scissors
🤍 Blow Dryers

We’d love for our village to be part of it. Every bundle of hair, every comb, every donation is a reminder that somebody deserves to feel beautiful, affirmed, and cared for.

If you’d like to donate supplies or help us purchase what’s needed, send me a message. Let’s show up for our people the way our people have always shown up for us. 🖤🦋

Two years ago, we gathered for our second Tea Party. 🦋

Looking back, we’re reminded that creating joyful spaces for Black trans women has always been part of who we are. Before the workshops, before the gardens, before the milestones, we were simply bringing our community together to laugh, connect, and remind one another that we deserve beautiful moments, too.

Thank you to every doll who has shared this journey with us, and to every community partner, philanthropist, and donor who continues to believe in our vision. Your support has helped us create spaces where Black trans people are seen in our fullness not just surviving, but smiling, celebrating, healing, and thriving.

Here’s to the memories we’ve made and the joy we’re still creating together. Happy anniversary to one of the gatherings that helped shape who we are today. 🖤🦋

Hey Mobile!

On Saturday, August 29, Our ED Myah Turner and Our 🦋 Taylor Danyale will be traveling from Mobile to New Orleans to volunteer as hairstylists for TRU2DACommunity’s Homeless, Not Helpless Transition Giveaway.

We’re looking for one gender-affirming braider to travel with us and help provide affirming braid services to community.

If you believe hair can be a part of helping someone walk away feeling a little lighter, a little more confident, and a little more like themselves, we’d love to have you with us.

This is volunteer work rooted in community care. If you’re interested, send me a message. And if you know a braider who would be a great fit, tag them below. Let’s ride together and love on our people the way they deserve. 🖤🦋

To my Butterflies 🦋 my trans sisters, trans brothers, siblings, and our trans-led organizations

🩷💜 I have an ask. 💜🩷

As we prepare to celebrate the life of our beautiful sister, La’daijah L. Walters, I would love for our community to show up in a way that reflects the love she deserved.

If you are able, please consider sending a pink and purple floral arrangement to her Celebration of Life. Let’s fill the sanctuary with flowers in the colors that remind us of beauty, softness, strength, and the joy she should have had.

Even if you’re unable to send flowers, please share this post so we can reach as many people as possible. Let’s surround her family and our community with an undeniable display of love.

Our sister deserved her flowers in life. Since we can no longer give them to her then, let’s make sure she is surrounded by them as we honor her now. 🩷💜

We made one small but intentional change to the celebration of life flyer by removing La’daijah’s birth name.

We want to be transparent about why.

For many transgender people, one of our greatest fears is that our identities will not be honored after we’re gone. While we recognize that funeral arrangements are ultimately the responsibility of the family, we also believe there is power in honoring people as they lived, loved, and introduced themselves to the world.

To us, she was La’daijah. That is the name we knew, the name our community embraced, and the name we will continue to speak with love and respect.

This decision is not meant to challenge or criticize her family. It is simply our way of affirming the dignity of a Black trans woman whose life mattered and whose identity deserves to be remembered.

At The Black Butterfly Collective, we are committed to preserving the stories, names, and legacies of Black transgender people not only in life, but also in death. We believe that remembrance is an act of love, and love tells the truth about who people are.

Rest in power, La’daijah. We will continue to say your name, honor your life, and ensure your legacy is never reduced to just another headline. 🖤🦋

La’Daijah, you didn’t deserve that. No one deserves that. 💔🕊️

We will say her name! Honor her life, and grieve the future that was stolen from her. We refuse to let her name become just another headline.

Join us for a Pink Balloon & Candle Vigil on June 29, 2026 as we gather in love, remembrance, and community.

If you’re able, please help ease the burden on her family by making a donation to the GoFundMe. The link is in the comments. Every contribution helps us give La’Daijah the homegoing she deserves.

Say her name.
Stand with our community.
Demand better.

Rest in Love, La’Daijah. 🦋🩷
