We had the pleasure of representing United Way 2-1-1 at United Way’s Disaster Preparedness Event!

Events like this are a great reminder of how important it is for our community to be prepared before disaster strikes, and to know where to turn when help is needed. We enjoyed connecting with community members, sharing information about 2-1-1, and learning more about disaster preparedness alongside local partners.

We even had the opportunity to hear from Alabama’s own James Spann, who shared his expertise on severe weather and staying prepared!

Remember: when you don’t know where to turn, Dial 2-1-1 to get connected to local resources and support.

Trauma bond... It's one of those terms everyone keeps using, but what does it mean?!
Trauma bond is when someone becomes deeply attached to a person who is hurting them because the relationship keeps alternating between pain and moments of love. The occasional “good” moments become incredibly meaningful because they interrupt the bad ones.
It is NOT when two people bond over a shared trauma.
