🌱📖 11¼ HOURS OF THE WORD. EVERY. SINGLE. WEEK. 📖🌱

Every weekday morning at Agape Life Gardens, the men in our 90 Day Peer Support Residency take part in three 45-minute Bible classes.

That’s 135 minutes every morning.
That’s 11¼ hours every week.
That’s more than 11 hours of Scripture, truth, discipleship, and Gospel-centered teaching being poured into these men every single week.

And we believe the timing matters.

Many of the men who walk through our doors come out of years of addiction, broken decisions, damaged relationships, disappointment, and pain.

The ground of their lives has been broken up.

🌱 AND BROKEN GROUND IS READY FOR SEED.

So every morning, we sow.

📖 The Word of God
✝️ The Gospel of Jesus Christ
🙏 Truth and prayer
🌱 Hope for a new life
🔥 Identity in Christ
🤝 Wisdom for living differently

These classes are taught by preachers and teachers from multiple local churches who faithfully give their time to come alongside these men and open the Scriptures with them.

Different churches.
Different backgrounds.
One mission.

🔥 LIFT UP JESUS. SOW THE WORD. TRUST GOD FOR THE GROWTH.

We cannot force a seed to grow.

We cannot manufacture transformation.

But we can faithfully sow the Word of God into hearts that are being softened, humbled, and rebuilt — and trust the Lord to do what only He can do.

At Agape Life Gardens, recovery is about more than leaving an old lifestyle behind.

It is about giving men the opportunity to become rooted in truth, grounded in Christ, and equipped to walk in a completely new life.

That’s why leadership at Agape Life Gardens starts with discipleship.

Every Tuesday morning at 6:00 a.m., our Executive Associate Director Matthew Murray, along with several leaders from The Greenhouse — our 90 Day Peer Support Residency, attends Bible study at International Gospel Outreach.

Before the counseling.
Before the meetings.
Before the decisions.
Before the needs of the day start pulling in every direction…

📖 WE GET IN THE WORD.

Because titles don’t make leaders.

🔥 Teachable hearts do.
🙏 Prayer does.
📖 Scripture does.
🤝 Accountability does.
🌱 Consistent growth does.

We never want to become so busy helping other men grow that we stop growing ourselves.

We never want to become so focused on pouring out that we forget where the filling comes from.

And we never want leadership to mean, “I’ve arrived.”

Leadership should mean:

I’m still learning.
I’m still being challenged.
I’m still being discipled.
I’m still dependent on Jesus.

📖 “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” — Proverbs 27:17

The men we serve deserve leaders who are spiritually healthy, grounded, accountable, and continually growing.

So before we pour into them…

🔥 WE MAKE SURE SOMEONE IS POURING INTO US.

That’s how strong leadership is built.
That’s how disciples make disciples.
And that’s how we keep Jesus at the center of everything we do. ✝️💚🌱

Addiction may have written a chapter...

But it does NOT get to write the ending. 🙌✝️

At Agape Life Gardens, we see men walk through the door carrying regret, broken relationships, fear, shame, and years of bad decisions.

Then God starts working. 💚🌱

📖 Truth replaces lies.
🙏 Prayer replaces panic.
🤝 Brotherhood replaces isolation.
🧱 Discipline replaces chaos.
✝️ Jesus replaces hopelessness with PURPOSE.

And little by little...

🔥 chains start breaking
🌱 faith starts growing
💪 men start standing again
❤️ families begin seeing hope
🙌 lives begin changing

This is why we do what we do.

Not just to help a man survive another day...

But to help him discover that Jesus Christ can give him a completely new life. ✝️🔥

✝️ WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DAY AT AGAPE LIFE GARDENS! 🙌

Today, we had the incredible privilege of watching FIVE men follow Jesus in believer’s baptism! 🌊✝️

A special thank you to Bro. Joe, who graciously opened his home and allowed us to use his pool for the baptisms. Your hospitality helped make this special day possible! ❤️

One of the sweetest moments of the day was having Bro. Rey Bourn there to witness his brother’s baptism. After many years of prayer, his brother has accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior while at Agape Life Gardens. Today, Rey got to stand beside that pool and watch him publicly declare his faith in Jesus. 🙏😭❤️

Years of prayer. A life surrendered to Christ. A brother there to witness it. God is faithful!

Pastor Matthew Murray had the honor of performing the baptisms, and the entire event was simply a sweet time in the Lord. 🕊️

These are the moments that remind us why Agape Life Gardens exists. We believe that Jesus still saves, Jesus still restores, and Jesus still makes all things new. 🌱✝️

Pastor Matthew Murray had the opportunity to attend the Semmes Chamber of Commerce meeting today, representing Agape Life Gardens Discipleship Home!

We love getting out into our community, building relationships, and connecting with the local partners who help make a difference in the lives of others.

We are incredibly grateful for Pastor Matthew and all that he does to represent our sober living discipleship program and the heart of Agape Life Gardens. His dedication to serving others and sharing our mission is truly appreciated.

🔥 Jeremiah 23:29 — The Power of God’s Word

“Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?” — Jeremiah 23:29 (KJV)

God’s Word is not empty or powerless. The Lord compares His Word to fire and to a hammer.

Fire burns away what does not belong. It purifies, exposes, and brings light into dark places. Sometimes when we read God’s Word, it convicts us because God is showing us something that needs to change.

His Word is also like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces. There may be areas of our hearts that have become hard because of sin, disappointment, pride, or unforgiveness. But no heart is too hard for the Word of God.

We don’t need to change God’s Word to fit our lives. We need to allow God’s Word to change us.

So today, don’t just read the Bible—let the Bible read you. Let God’s Word burn away the things that need to go, break down the walls that need to come down, and shape you into the person Christ has called you to be.

📖 OPEN OUR EYES

Scripture — Psalm 119:18 (KJV)
“Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.”

Devotion

As we open God’s Word, let us not simply read the words on the page, but let us ask the Lord to open our eyes and reveal His truth to us.

“Open thou mine eyes…”

What a powerful prayer. We need God to open the eyes of our hearts so that we can see what He wants us to see, understand what He wants us to understand, and apply His Word to our lives.

Let us never become stagnant in our walk with Christ. There is always more to learn, more truth to discover, and more growing to do. As we dig deep into God’s Word, may we continue to grow in truth, grow in knowledge, and grow in grace.

Every day, we should desire to know Him more, follow Him closer, and become more like Christ.

Let us keep pressing forward. Let us keep seeking Him. Let us keep opening His Word with hungry hearts and willing spirits.

“Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.”

Lord, open our eyes today. Enlighten the eyes of our hearts. Help us to understand Your truth and apply it to our lives. Keep us from becoming stagnant, and help us continue to grow in Your grace, Your knowledge, and Your truth. Help us to press forward toward the high calling that is found in Christ Jesus.

Keep growing. Keep seeking. Keep pressing forward. Keep your eyes on Jesus. 🙏📖✝️

Fix Your Eyes on Jesus

📖 Hebrews 12:2 KJV

“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith…”

Today, let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.

When life happens, when trials come, when tribulation comes, and when temptations come, let us keep our eyes fixed on the One who can carry us through it all. Jesus is our King, our God, our Lord, and our Savior.

We may not always understand what we are going through, but we can trust the One who is leading us through it. Let us continue to walk in the path of righteousness for His name’s sake, knowing that our hope is not in ourselves but in Christ.

It is all because of the finished work of the cross—because of what Jesus has already done for us.

So today, don’t look at the storm.
Don’t look at the trial.
Don’t look at the temptation.

Fix your eyes on Jesus.

He is all in all, and He is faithful to finish what He has started in us.
