Summer adventures are in full swing, and so are elevators and escalators.

Whether you’re heading to the airport, shopping for back-to-school supplies, visiting an amusement park, or exploring a new city, remember that safe riding starts with a few simple habits:

• Hold the handrail.
• Keep children close and hold their hands.
• Keep loose clothing and shoelaces away from moving steps.
• Never take a stroller onto an escalator. Use the elevator instead.
• Step on and off promptly and keep moving.

A few seconds of attention can help prevent an injury.

Stay Sharp. Ride Smart.

Happy Monday!

Back-to-school shopping season is here, and shopping malls will soon be filled with families checking off school supply lists and finding the perfect first-day outfit.

As you’re out shopping, take a moment to practice safe elevator and escalator habits. Hold the handrail, supervise young children at all times, keep shoelaces, loose clothing, and backpacks away from the sides of escalators, and always step on and off promptly.

A few simple safety habits can help make your shopping trip memorable for all the right reasons.

Have a safe week, and happy back-to-school shopping from the Elevator Escalator Safety Foundation!
