🎭 First-Time Mardi Gras Ball? Here’s Your Costume de Rigueur Guide 🎭

If this is your first Mardi Gras ball and your invitation lists Costume de Rigueur, here’s what that means in plain terms:

Costume de Rigueur = the required attire.
It is not optional, and it is not open to interpretation.

For this ball, Costume de Rigueur means full WHITE TIE formalwear:

🖤 Black tailcoat (with tails)
🤍 White piqué vest
🤍 White piqué bow tie
✨ Mother-of-pearl studs and cufflinks
🖤 Black formal trousers
🖤 Black formal shoes (patent or highly polished)

This is more formal than a tuxedo. Black tie is not the same as white tie.

Mardi Gras balls are rooted in long-standing tradition, and the dress code ensures everyone in the room is on the same formal level — especially during court presentations and tableaux.

If you’re ever unsure, remember this rule:
When the invitation says Costume de Rigueur, follow it exactly.
