We were excited this week to present Elizabeth Pinckney Stevens, the President and Chairman Emeritus of the Downtown Mobile Alliance with our Kiwanis Club of Mobile Downtown Mobilian of the Year Award for 2024!
Past recipients of this Award are Mr. Fred Richardson, former City Councilman, and Mr. David Rasp, Owner of Heroes Sports Bar and The Royal Scam restaurants.
Begun in 2021 by the Kiwanis Club to recognize those individuals who have made significant contributions to the Downtown Community in the City of Mobile, the plaque reads "in Grateful Appreciation of Your Unwavering Support of Downtown Mobile to Make this City a Better Community for All"
We couldn't say it better than the Chairman of the Downtown Mobile Alliance Board, Matt LeMond, said in his announcement of Elizabeth's decision to step down so we echo his statements here and 100% agree with him.
“Elizabeth’s outstanding contributions to the redevelopment and growth of downtown are too numerous to list, but suffice it to say that without her efforts, Downtown Mobile would be a very different place today. She can be proud of her legacy in leading the Downtown Mobile Alliance and facilitating the work of the Downtown Mobile District Management Corporation and Main Street Mobile. Thanks to Elizabeth’s vision and hard work, with the support of the board, the City Council, the Mayor’s Office, and the Mobile County Commission, downtown Mobile now thrives as a business, arts, and entertainment district, welcoming visitors, residents, and new businesses to a clean, friendly, and vibrant urban setting.”
