I am so disgusted at the continued lack of progress on the repair of the damn and lake! I resigned as president of the community association before my most recent neck surgery as I was really unable to concentrate on pushing the issue forward. Since that time, Keith also suffered a serious health event that resulted in his inability to continue to serve as vice president. Once we stepped down as officers of that board, it appears that efforts to keep the repair efforts in front of the community, in a transparent manner, have ceased. I’m aware that there continues to be opposition to progress of any kind toward repair and restoration of the damn and lake by some. However, I do not believe that is the majority opinion of the neighborhoods.

I would like for the community to once again consider a coordinated effort to restore this beautiful asset to our neighborhoods. Every household benefits from the presence of optimist lake and every household needs to be a part of the solution to restore this landmark property in west Mobile.

There she goes again, accusing us of doing something we didn't do. Read it for yourself, We said, "Allen is working with the city..." and the letter was addressed to him and Mike as representatives of the association. Allen will address the questions and provide the certifications he is asking for and hopefully get the permit this week. Just one more roadblock to break down that Sherry and her Army of one has tried to put in the way of progress. As for believing that she is in it for the money, people have been saying that since she first started her campaign to take over the association, this post is just the first time that she has actually posted it for them to see.

FACT Checker!! This entire post is filled with false statements and accusations. First, Mike has not quit and is still our President. He will be back in the area tonight and will continue his efforts. As for Allen he is still actively working with the City on obtaining our permits and the eventual rebuilding of the damn and spillway. As for being a fake organization, if you want to see who is claiming to be the Queen of a non-existing organization check out the Secretary of States website and look up both HPca and Lakeview/Highland park community association and see which one really is a recognized State organization. As for her accusation that we stole from “widow women”, nothing could be further from the truth. All funds collected have been used for the betterment of the community. Anyone who has paid dues at any time from 2015 thru current is welcome to audit our financials. All you have to do is contact one of our Board Members and we’ll be glad to show them to you. We challenge Sherry to do the same. As far as remorse is concerned, we all want to see our lake restored and are working every day to try and make that happen. It is going to take all of us, working as a cohesive group to make that happen. Finally, we now know what Ms. Gros is really after. It isn’t about the environment, not about the water shed or the community itself, it is about money. Ms Gros originally thought that she could file the lawsuit, intimidate us into turning over the association to her, she would then apply for grants and as she has been quoted of saying, she is an expert at raking up to 40% of any grant for her personal develop use. When that didn’t work, she doubled down and is now trying to say that we owe her something.

Not sure where she got the $7K figure. But I am sure that if Ms. Gros had joined the group and instead of spending thousands of dollars suing the association and trying to split up our community, she had put her time and money to working with us, we could have done a permanent repair and would still have our lake. I know she thinks it's funny but really it is extremely sad. ☹️

We as the association have received a preliminary copy of the City attorney's letter and will be in contact to answer his questions next week. Would like to point out that Ms. Gros is listed as a recipient of the letter, but HPca is not, and she is not listed as the President. That's because it does not legally exist. So why is she copied? Because she contacted the city and is trying to prevent the association from obtaining a permit. Just like she did in 2019 Ms. Gros is attempting to usurp the authority of the BOD and to personally strongarm and intimidate the community into letting her board of one and nonexistent group control the association's property.
