Azalea City Art Quilters We use innovative techniques and materials in our work, which is inspired by our own experiences, imagery, and ideas rather than traditional patterns.

We enjoy doing both individual and group projects. Our first meeting was July 2003. For the first year, we created 9"x12" journal quilts. Each month, we chose a theme. We experimented with different techniques. We quickly decided that our only rule is:
nO rUlEs! Every year, we create individual art quilts along with collaborative projects. Our group is open to all members of the Azalea City Quilters Guild.

Workshop: Dorset buttons - 30 September 2026 !

A Dorset button is a style of craft-made button originating in the English county of Dorset. Their manufacture was at a peak between 1622 and 1850. Dorset buttons are a great way to use up small amounts for yarn. They also offer you a method to have buttons in the same material as your knitted or crocheted projects.

In this workshop you will learn to create a cartwheel button, and discover the design possibilities. No special skills are required to join this workshop. Materials will be provided.

Date: Wednesday, the 30th of September 2026.

Time: 10.00 - 13.00.

Venue: TRC Leiden, Boerhaavelaan 6, 2334 EN, Leiden.

Teacher: Alice van Duijnen.

Language: Dutch/English, as required

Costs: 45 euros.

The art quilters are part of the Azalea City Quilters' Guild, Inc. We meet tomorrow, Tuesday July 28th at 10am, University Church of Christ, in the fellowship hall.

Mary Gale Woolford is giving a trunk show of her Improv Quilts. She will explain how the Improv method can be integrated in other quilts and projects. She will have a mini workshop at our August meeting. Details to follow.
