Food insecurity affects more families now than during the coronavirus pandemic, according to a new survey from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

Milestone Achieved: 5,000 lbs of Impact

As of January 2026, the Corner Market has officially surpassed the 5,000-pound food distribution milestone. In just under eight months of operation and planning, this student-led initiative has provided over 4,300 students with reliable access to nutrition. This achievement is a testament to our partnerships with the community and the Love All Food Pantry, whose weekly box donations—alongside contributions from Panera Bread, Aldi, Wawa, and Chick-Fil-A—have been vital to our success.

Our hard work is paying off and ensuring that the holistic needs of our students are met so they can focus on their academic success. I want to thank each of you, as well as PTK, for making this happen.

Last month, we distributed over 78,000 pounds of groceries. Over 43% of that, or 33,000+ pounds, was rescued food.

We work diligently to rescue as much good food as we can. Food rescue fights food insecurity by redirecting surplus edible food to people in need.

US grocery stores discard over 5 billion pounds of edible food each year for reasons such as confusing date labels, overstocking, and cosmetic standards. Approximately ⅓ of that discarded food goes to landfills or incineration.
