Tristan de Luna Chapter, NSDAR, proudly exceeded its America 250 literacy goal by collecting more than 500 books for children in our community.

As part of our chapter's America 250 celebration, members set a goal of donating 250 books. Thanks to the generosity of our members and supporters, that goal was quickly reached—and then surpassed with the collection of an additional 250 books.

Books were distributed to local schools in the Mobile area and to Kate Duncan Smith DAR School (KDS) in Grant, Alabama (pictured). Founded by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution in 1924, KDS has served generations of students and families through its commitment to education, literacy, and community service.

By supporting young readers, we honor America's past while investing in its future—one book at a time.

🇺🇸✨ Celebrating a Historic New Beginning in Alabama DAR! ✨🇺🇸

Today, ASDAR State Regent Malinda Williams officially installed the officers and welcomed new members into Constitution Oak Chapter, NSDAR, the newest chapter in the State of Alabama! Tristan de Luna Chapter Regent Maureen Kennedy was pleased to attend alongside fellow Tristan de Luna member and ASDAR State Corresponding Secretary Amy Martin to witness this special milestone.

A highlight of the afternoon was Honorary State Regent and National Vice President General Patrice Donally presenting Organizing Chapter Regent Amanda Skinner with the DAR America 250 Medal in recognition of her extraordinary work in organizing this new chapter—a well-deserved honor for such a meaningful accomplishment! 🇺🇸🏅

Congratulations to Amanda and the charter members of Constitution Oak Chapter as they begin this exciting new journey in service to historic preservation, education, and patriotism. What a wonderful milestone for Alabama DAR! 💙

The chapter’s name beautifully honors the remarkable Constitution Oak in Geneva, Alabama—an awe-inspiring live oak believed to be over 300 years old. Located at the junction of the Pea and Choctawhatchee Rivers, this majestic tree witnessed the area’s early development from frontier trading post to thriving community. Often called a “living witness” to the era of the U.S. Constitution, it remains one of Alabama’s most treasured historic trees.

Following the meeting, several attendees visited the magnificent Constitution Oak in person—a breathtaking reminder of the history that inspired the chapter’s name. Guests also enjoyed a wonderful spread of delicious patriotic refreshments, beautifully themed for the occasion and the perfect touch for such a celebratory afternoon! ❤️🤍💙🍪🧀🐝

Congratulations again to Constitution Oak Chapter! Tristan de Luna Chapter wishes you every success in the years ahead!

We are proud to recognize the dedicated volunteers who were awarded a Community Service Award at today’s meeting for their outstanding work at the historic Old Mobile / 27 Mile Bluff site. 🇺🇸

This important site marks the location of Fort Louis de la Louisiane (1702–1711)—the first capital of French Louisiana and the birthplace of what would become the City of Mobile. Rich in early colonial history, Old Mobile represents a vital chapter in the story of the Gulf Coast and our nation’s beginnings.

Members of the Tristan de Luna Chapter, NSDAR, were honored to be part of this meaningful effort alongside others who are passionate about preserving our shared history. Volunteers worked to clear debris from excavation areas, clean and restore historic monuments, install new historical signage, and improve the overall appearance and accessibility of the grounds. During the cleanup, artifacts such as a jug handle and historic brick were even discovered—powerful reminders of the lives once lived there over 300 years ago.

We also extend special appreciation to the Friends of Old Mobile, the nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and interpreting the site of the original settlement of Mobile, founded in 1702 at Twenty-Seven Mile Bluff along the Mobile River. Their ongoing stewardship ensures this important historic site is protected and shared with future generations.

This was truly a labor of love—carried out by individuals committed to honoring the past and preserving it for the future.

We are incredibly proud of all who contributed their time, energy, and dedication to this project. Your efforts make a lasting impact in our community and help ensure that the story of Old Mobile continues to be told. 💙

Tristan de Luna Chapter held our year-end meeting today—and the rain didn’t stop us! ☔🇺🇸

With the heavy rain we’ve had for days, we set aside our usual meeting attire and went with a more relaxed “casual and rain boots” dress code for the morning. While we typically enjoy gathering outdoors on a beautiful day, today we cozied up indoors to stay dry—and still had a wonderful time together!

We were proud to distribute and celebrate the many awards our chapter received at State Conference this year. Our members’ dedication and hard work truly shined, and we are honored to have been recognized in so many areas.

As Regent, I could not be more proud of our members and all that has been accomplished this past year. It is a privilege to serve alongside such a dedicated and inspiring group. 💙

We were also delighted to welcome a new member today, continuing our growth as the largest DAR chapter in the Mobile area.

Several members also wore red in recognition of Red Dress Day, honoring Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. ❤️

Rain or shine, it’s always a joy to gather in fellowship. 💙

Honoring our history, one marker at a time 🪦🇺🇸
Today we had the privilege of cleaning the grave markers of a War of 1812 patriot, an American Revolutionary War patriot, and a DAR Real Daughter in Church Street Graveyard.

A meaningful day preserving the legacy of those who helped shape our nation. ❤️
