Volunteers are needed to be trained to serve as guardians for incapacitated adults in Mobile County. These very vulnerable elderly and disabled adults are no longer able to make decisions for themselves, and have no one left in their families who is willing or able to serve as their guardian. They are for all practical purposes alone in the world, and need a helping hand.
This rewarding program is a partnership between the Probate Court of Mobile County and the Area Agency on Aging of the South Alabama Regional Planning Commission. While other such programs exist throughout the nation, this is the only Volunteer Guardian Program in Alabama.
Motivated, compassionate volunteers will be appointed by the Mobile County Probate Court to make informed decisions about the health and well-being of individuals. Training and support for volunteers is provided by the Area Agency on Aging.
