It’s October 1, which means 4-H enrollment is officially OPEN!

And this year, we’re especially excited because Randolph County Horsemanship is officially its own 4-H club!

Our first club meeting will be:

Sunday, October 11 at 5:00 PM
MU Extension – Randolph County
509 W. Reed St., Moberly, MO

Randolph County Horsemanship has a standing club meeting on the second Sunday of every month at 5:00 PM.

Our club is focused on all things horsemanship, and you do not have to own a horse to participate. Members can participate in mounted horsemanship or horseless horsemanship while learning about horse care, safety, anatomy, nutrition, tack, grooming, groundwork, judging, showing, breeds, behavior and so much more.

If you already belong to another 4-H club, you can still participate in the horse project through your home club, or you can choose to enroll directly with Randolph County Horsemanship.

We’re excited to kick off a new 4-H year, welcome back our returning members, and hopefully meet some new horse-loving kids and families along the way!

Randolph County Horsemanship is officially a 4-H Club!

Registration for the new 4-H year opens October 1, and we are excited to welcome both new and returning 4-H families to Randolph County Horsemanship!

One of the biggest things we want families to know is that you have options.

If your child already belongs to a 4-H club they love, they do not have to leave that club to participate with us. They can continue enrolling with their current club and register for the horse project through that club, just as they have in the past.

If your child wants horses and horsemanship to be the main focus of their 4-H experience, they can instead choose to enroll in Randolph County Horsemanship as their 4-H club.

Becoming our own club isn’t about taking members away from other clubs. It’s about creating another opportunity for youth in our area and giving kids who are passionate about horses a place where that interest can be the heart of their 4-H experience.

And you do NOT have to own a horse to be involved!

Randolph County Horsemanship welcomes both mounted and horseless members. Throughout the year, youth will have opportunities to learn and participate in things like horse care and management, equine health and nutrition, anatomy and behavior, grooming and tack, groundwork and riding, showing, horse judging, Hippology, Horse Bowl, public speaking and demonstrations, photography, leadership, community service, career exploration and more.

We also want this to be about more than riding horses. 4-H is about developing capable, confident young people, and horsemanship gives us an incredible way to teach responsibility, sportsmanship, communication, leadership, service and lifelong skills.

Clover Kids: Ages 5–7, with age-appropriate 4-H activities
4-H Members: Ages 8–18
Horse ownership is NOT required.
Enrollment opens October 1, 2026.

Whether you stay with your current club and enroll in the horse project or choose to make Randolph County Horsemanship your club, we’d love to have your family involved.

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!

We are so excited to officially share that Randolph County Horsemanship is no longer just a project - we are now our own club!

This is something we have been working toward for quite some time, and we are incredibly excited for what this next chapter will bring for our youth, families, and horse community.

Even better…

We will begin accepting NEW MEMBERS on October 1!

Randolph County Horsemanship is focused on giving youth opportunities to grow in their horsemanship, confidence, responsibility, leadership, and knowledge both in and out of the saddle.

We will have both mounted and non-mounted meetings throughout the year, with opportunities to learn about horse care, groundwork, riding, showing, leadership, and so much more.

We are so thankful for everyone who has helped support this program and encouraged our kids along the way.

This is just the beginning for Randolph County Horsemanship, and we cannot wait to see where it goes!

Randolph County Fair Horse Show!

With 28 horses registered, we were absolutely blown away by the enthusiasm and support from our exhibitors, families, and spectators. What started as an idea to bring people together around horsemanship and agriculture grew into a day full of smiles, learning, encouragement, and memories.

The energy our competitors brought to the arena was truly special. They showed determination, pride in their horses, and a level of sportsmanship that made us so proud. Riders cheered each other on, shared encouragement, celebrated successes, and lifted each other up through the challenges that come with showing horses.

The joy and passion for horsemanship was felt throughout the entire day. From the youngest exhibitors stepping into the arena to the experienced riders sharing their knowledge, everyone played a part in creating a welcoming environment where agriculture, horses, and community came together.

A huge thank you to every competitor, parent, volunteer, spectator, and supporter who helped make this event possible. The love for horses, agriculture, and youth development was evident in every conversation, every handshake, and every smile.

We are so grateful for the opportunity to be part of something that continues to grow and bring our community together. Thank you for making Randolph County Fair Horse Show such a special day!

Registration starts at 8AM and ends at 8:45AM.
First Class starts at 9AM.

Those in attendance are encouraged to bring their own chairs as seating is limited.

Bulldog Bites Lemonade & Hot Dog Stand will be set up at for this year's Horse Show for breakfast AND lunch!

Double Reins Western Apparel & Tack will be there along with Candy Curtis. So if you forgot something in the tack room at home - they’ve got you!

Exciting News, Randolph County!

The Randolph County Fair Board has teamed up with Randolph County Horsemanship to bring you a special Open County Youth 4-H/FFA Equine Show during the fair on July 18!

Pre-entries are encouraged and greatly appreciated - it really helps us plan a smooth and fun day for everyone. The handbook with patterns will be posted as soon as they’re finalized, and entry fees will be shared soon.

We really missed Presley at our show, but for an amazing reason - she was celebrating a loved one’s 90th birthday!

How incredible is that?!

Presley has been working so hard on her horsemanship skills, and I can’t wait to see all the progress and fun this year brings for her.

Her smile is contagious!

Bristol and her horse Nova weren’t able to attend our show, but for an admirable reason!

Bristol put her horse’s well-being above her own desires.

Concerned about Nova’s soundness, she made the thoughtful, selfless decision to sit this one out and prioritize her horse’s safety.

This is Bristol’s first year, and I’m really enjoying getting to know both her and Nova.

It’s been amazing to see them grow together and form such a strong partnership.
