We’re hiring Animal Care Staff 🐾

Do you have a basic understanding of animal care and want to switch to a feel-good career that helps dogs in need? Maybe you used to be in animal welfare and miss the undying love of shelter pups? Perhaps you just want to be a part of something bigger and do some good in this world!

Well this may be the job for you!

Some of the essential job responsibilities:

-Provide daily enrichment, exercise, and socialization for dogs
-Groom animals including bathing, brushing, and trimming
-Handle intake of animals arriving into care
-Follow protocols for treatment of sick animals, including blood draw and other tests (training provided)
-Keep animal records + staff communications up to date
-Update photos, attributes, and bios for all dogs
-Process adoption applications + carry out adoption procedures properly
-Administer medication + tend to other medical needs
-Keep medical tasks and records up to date and schedule upcoming treatments/vaccines as
- Record all pertinent behavior observations in animal profiles
-Follow procedures for run/kennel cleaning to ensure animal housing areas are kept clean and sanitary
-Check email daily, and respond within 12 hours

5 days a week, 8am-5pm
$40,560/yr, fulltime, exempt

Thank you SO much to the wonderful Upper Fruitland community, our selfless volunteers, exceptional medical team, and to each person who helped make our August clinic a success.

These clinics are an integral part of our mission and, with the help of many caring folks, we pulled off another trip to bring resources + vet care to animals in need on the rez 🐾👏

Thank you doesn’t even begin to cover it.

Every single month our team travels to make sure these clinics happen because they are a huge part of our overall goal at Underdog. We strive to provide preventative and lifesaving care to pets in need and it means the world to us to have the support to pull these clinics off month after month. Thank you to everybody who donates and supports us to keep these clinics going, it truly means the world to us!

Our September clinic is coming up on the 18th-20th at Nageezi Chapter House in Nageezi, NM and we’re always looking for volunteers to help out in many ways. Meet Clara! 🐾
This sweet 4.5 year old girl came to us this past spring and has been enjoying a well earned foster vacation. 💞

Here’s what her foster had to say about here:

“For nearly two and a half years, this beautiful mama dog survived on her own in Dennehotso, Arizona. Through scorching summers, cold nights, and countless days spent fending for herself and many litters of puppies, she never lost her gentle spirit or her ability to love.
Today, she’s discovering all the little things that make life so wonderful: a soft dog bed that’s hers alone, cool air conditioning on a warm day, a handful of treats, and the comfort of being surrounded by a pack. She absolutely adores the water and has the sweetest habit of “talking back” when she has something to say, making everyone around her smile.
Despite all she’s endured, she remains incredibly docile, kind, and easygoing. There’s no bitterness in her heart—only gratitude, trust, and a deep desire to belong. She loves being with other dogs and finds comfort in companionship, whether that’s sharing a nap, exploring the yard, or simply being near those she loves.
After spending so long just surviving, this special girl is ready to start living. She deserves a family who will cherish her, a place where she’ll never be forgotten, and a home where she’ll always know she is safe, wanted, and loved.
Her hardest days are behind her. Now she just needs someone to give her the patience and happy ending she’s been waiting for.”

This Saturday we are teaming up with our very own local thrift store Underdog Thrift Store to host another adoption event + sale!
Last time was so much fun, we want to do it again 👏

We are looking for local moab volunteers to help out in many ways - we have a job for everyone! So please reach out if you think you may be available. The more volunteers we acquire, the more dogs that get their chance at finding their home!

Next up we have PETAPALOOZA 🐾🥳
This fun two day animal adoption event will be in the Salt Lake area so grab the family and come on down - there will be adoptable animals, food trucks, vendors, and loads of fun activities for the whole crew!

We are in big need of temporary SLC area fosters for the pups attending this event. We can only bring them if we have temporary fosters for them to stay with both nights. If you think you can help out by fostering for those two night, please reach out! This event could easily be their ticket to a better life, can you be their stepping stone to that? 💞

Crate, food, leash, + collar provided as well as pet transport to and from the event if needed!

We’re so grateful to be teaming up with the ASPCA and joining The Rescue Effect with a FEE-FREE moab adoption event this weekend in Moab to help dogs find homes!

The event is taking place this Sat 8/29 + Sun 8/30 at the ranch from 10am-4pm each day with a preselected group of adult dogs 🐾

By taking home one animal, you save many lives. It’s a ripple: when we help one, we help many. That’s The Rescue Effect.

Walk-ins welcome but go ahead and fill out an adoption form (link in bio!) to get pre approved + secure your meet + greet time!

The pups can’t wait to meet you! 🧡🐾
