Our May clinic was a HUGE success! Thank you thank you thank you to the wonderful community of Upper Fruitland, to our amazing medical team who absolutely crushed it, to our incredible volunteers with whom we could not have done this without, to Diné and Dash Catering for making sure our team was fed by generously donating meals (including those adorably thoughtful cupcakes 🥹), and to every. single. person. who made this clinic possible!

We got so much done over the course of the weekend -
109 spay + neuters
33 mircochips placed
75 sick animals treated
621 vaccines given
805 pets seen by our medical team
And many resources distributed to the community including preventative meds and dog food.

Our monthly clinics are an integral part of our goal at Underdog - preventative care is such an important aspect of our mission - and it means the world to us to have the support to pull these clinics off time and time again.

If you’re interested in getting involved at our clinics, we always need help! We have an upcoming clinic this month in Nenahnezad NM Friday, June 19th – Sunday June 21st and we still need help with meals, packing, in person support, and more. Reach out if you’re interested in getting involved in any way, no experience necessary - we have a role for everyone. Please email [email protected].
We’d love to have you 💕🐾

If you can’t make it in person, donations really go a long way around here.

Fostering is the lifeblood of a shelter. It’s where the healing can begin and where hopeless dogs start to trust again. Fostering gives a rescue dog the chance to decompress, feel safe, and learn what love really is.

When we say fostering saves lives, we mean it in a few ways - it opens up space for us to rescue more dogs at the shelter, it gives the fostered dog a life-changing chance to decompress and relax into simply being a dog, and it helps us learn more about the dog’s personality + behaviors leading to a quicker, more aligned adoption.

You don’t need a perfect home - you need compassion, patience, and room in your heart. If you’re willing, most situations are almost always better than a loud, crowded shelter.

Need more convincing? Here’s some wonderful words from Pearla’s foster, a longtime local Underdog foster:

My husband and I have been fostering for Underdog since 2020. Most of my fosters have never been in a house, are shy and have forgotten how to be a dog but they just need time to adjust to a life as a loved family member. My pack of pups is welcoming and take every new dog under their wings to show them the ropes. The most rewarding part is watching each pup bloom into the dog they are supposed to be. Everyone says they could never do what I do, they would keep them all. And, yes, part of you does want to keep them all, but if you did, you wouldn’t be able to help the next one who needs you. We are always sad to see them go, and shed a few tears, but seeing how happy each dog is with their new family is all the reward I need!

Here’s a few words about Pearla, our current foster 🐾 -

She’s an incredibly sweet, affectionate soul who adores people. She is happiest being right by your side sharing life’s little moments. She has excellent house manners, knows how to use a doggie door, and enjoys sunbathing in the mornings. She’s a lower energy girl who likes the company of other dogs (+ goats!) and is a great companion to her senior foster brother. Pearla is the sweetest girl with a heart of gold who would love a home of her own to spend her golden years.

Meet Jack!
He came to us for care after getting severely attacked by another dog which resulted in a broken leg and multiple deep wounds that needed medical attention. He has been in and out of our wonderful local vet, being treated for his injuries. Greater Good Charities sponsored a massive portion of his care, leaving just $766 as the balance. We are now in search of a generous heart or hearts to sponsor the remaining balance. Visit the website or reach out if you’re interested in helping us help sweet boy, Jack 🧡

Huge shoutout to for their support!

Rescue is full of surprises and challenges, and lately we’ve had a large number of dogs in need of expensive medical procedures. Our amazing partners at 15/10 stepped up to sponsor the care of these dogs, ensuring they could get the surgeries and medical attention needed.

Pictured are just a few of the pups whose lives were changed for the better with their support 🐾

Ryan was born with severe hip dysplasia and needed two hip surgeries. 15/10 sponsored him to make it happen! He’s currently gearing up for his second surgery and already feeling better.

Kaea got caught in a fence and required a bone-fusing surgery to walk again. With their help we were able to get her this surgery and back on her feet! She is a very sweet girl and currently available for adoption.

Speedy/Speed Bump showed up at a good samaritan’s house with a broken leg that required amputation. 15/10 helped us make that possible for him, and he’s now making strides in his new life as a tripod. He is currently available for adoption!

This kind of support means the world to us and ensures we can continue to give these pups a second chance at a happy, healthy life! Thank you 15/10! 🧡
