BEACON has two areas of focus:

1) Academic Assistance: The purpose of the BEACON Academic Assistance
Program is to help close the achievement gap by providing a diverse range of academic support to at-risk and struggling students.

2) Enriching Arts and Recreational Clubs: The purpose of the BEACON Arts and
Recreational Clubs is to provide an enriching and healthy afterschool environment which includes a wide-variety of clubs and activities.

🌟 BEACON Is Hiring! Join Our Team for 2026–2027 🌟

BEACON Afterschool is looking for passionate, dedicated people who want to make a difference in the lives of K–12 students and families throughout Grand County.

We currently have three open positions:

📌 Program Director
Lead and help grow the K–12 BEACON Afterschool Program. This year-round leadership position includes program development, staff supervision, grant management, budgeting, community partnerships, and long-term program sustainability.
32 hours/week | 170 contract days | $50,000/year + benefits

📚 K–6 Activity Leader
Plan and lead engaging activities for elementary students while creating a safe, positive, and fun learning environment.
$21/hour | 18 hours/week | Monday–Thursday

🎨 Teen Activity Leader
Lead enrichment activities and workshops for middle and high school students, helping them explore interests, build skills, and connect with others.
$21/hour | 16 hours/week | Monday–Thursday

BEACON provides professional development and on-the-job training, and we’re looking for people who are adaptable, collaborative, and committed to helping students discover their potential.

Xandra will continue serving with BEACON through December 2026, and we are looking for someone who can build upon and enhance the strong foundation she has created.

Just a reminder that Monday, September 7th, 2026 is Labor Day!

There will be no school in the Grand County School District (GCSD) and no BEACON clubs on Monday.

Thank you for your support, Moonflower Community Cooperative

Today is our 5% Day benefiting ! 🤸 Every second Tuesday of the month, Moonflower donates 5% of the day’s proceeds to an organization doing important work in our community.

BEACON is an afterschool program that provides an intentional blend of enrichment and academic assistance support for students in Grand County, Utah. Their programs serve more than half of Grand County students in the K-8 age range, consistently serving children and youth from marginalized families. BEACON also offers information and events for families throughout the school year, a two-week summer camp in partnership with Moab City Recreation Department, and meaningful opportunities for local businesses and organizations to support children and families in the community as community partners and funding sponsors.
