BEACON has two areas of focus:

1) Academic Assistance: The purpose of the BEACON Academic Assistance
Program is to help close the achievement gap by providing a diverse range of academic support to at-risk and struggling students.

2) Enriching Arts and Recreational Clubs: The purpose of the BEACON Arts and
Recreational Clubs is to provide an enriching and healthy afterschool environment which includes a wide-variety of clubs and activities.

Just a reminder that Monday, September 7th, 2026 is Labor Day!

There will be no school in the Grand County School District (GCSD) and no BEACON clubs on Monday.

We’re still looking for great people to join the BEACON Afterschool Program team for the 2026–2027 school year!

We currently have two part-time opportunities available:

📚 K–6 Activity Leader
Help elementary students learn, explore, create, and have fun through engaging afterschool activities.

🎨 Middle & High School Activity Leader
Lead enrichment activities and workshops that help middle and high school students build skills, explore their interests, and connect with others.

Thank you for your support, Moonflower Community Cooperative

Today is our 5% Day benefiting ! 🤸 Every second Tuesday of the month, Moonflower donates 5% of the day’s proceeds to an organization doing important work in our community.

BEACON is an afterschool program that provides an intentional blend of enrichment and academic assistance support for students in Grand County, Utah. Their programs serve more than half of Grand County students in the K-8 age range, consistently serving children and youth from marginalized families. BEACON also offers information and events for families throughout the school year, a two-week summer camp in partnership with Moab City Recreation Department, and meaningful opportunities for local businesses and organizations to support children and families in the community as community partners and funding sponsors.

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of students and families? Join the BEACON Afterschool Program team and help empower students to discover their innate ability to succeed! 💙

At BEACON, students make new friends, try new things, build confidence, and create meaningful connections with each other and the community. Our team members play an important role in creating safe, engaging, and enriching experiences for students across Grand County.

We are currently hiring for the 2026–2027 school year for the following positions:

📚 BEACON HMK Associate Site Coordinator
Support daily afterschool operations, lead and encourage staff, engage students, connect with families, and help create a positive learning environment.
✅ 32 hours/week
✅ Monday–Thursday schedule following the school calendar
✅ Benefits included
✅ Paid professional development and training
💰 Starting salary: $30,000 (150 contract days)
📅 Start date: August 10, 2026

🎨 K–6 Activity Leaders
Lead fun, educational enrichment activities for elementary students while creating a safe and positive environment where students can learn and grow.
✅ Monday–Thursday, 1:00–5:30 PM
✅ $21/hour
✅ 18 hours/week
✅ Training and professional development provided

🚀 Teen Activity Leaders
Lead enrichment activities and workshops for middle and high school students while helping students explore interests, build skills, and connect with their peers.
✅ Monday–Thursday, 1:30–5:30 PM

✅ 16 hours/week
