ATTENTION MOAB!
Coal is COMING HOME! He will be residing at The Division of Wildlife/State Building. We will be meeting this week to plan his unveiling!
ALSO.. To our recent donors for Coals pedestal. Unfortunately, he cannot be mounted anyway other than ON the wall. Anyone who has donated recently will be refunded. Your name will still appear on the plaque upon it's completion.
THANKS to our wonderful community, Adam Wallerstein DNR and Daryls Taxidermy. This has been quite the journey!
We are working with Desert Rivers on refunds. This is TODAY news, unfolding as I type. Bear with us while we navigate these next hours/days. Please message me with your inquiries. Thanks again Moab! -S. Costanza

Planning to bring Coal back to Moab!!
Greetings All!
We have been speaking with Daryl, we have a small fund in need to put him on a pedestal mount... The Credit Union still holds an active account.
Bringing Coal back to Moab is a works of progress. Covid put many things on hold this last year. We want to have a homecoming Covid conscious gathering. Keep a lookout on this page in the coming weeks for updates!

I just couldn’t keep “Coal” under wraps any longer....just had to show him off. He’s been done for about a month but haven’t delivered him to the good folks of Moab, Utah because they are basically shut down due to COVID-19. A lot of people from Grand Junction have stopped by to marvel at him but I haven’t allowed any pictures to be taken because I didn’t want pictures floating around on the internet until he is unveiled for the town of Moab. Who knows when Moab is gonna open up so I’m doing a Facebook post to honor this very rare melanistic deer. When I do deliver him I hope there’s a lot of fanfare, party atmosphere and fellowship. Maybe take him to a local park where we can social distance and allow people to have their picture taken with him.......O. K. Moab, Utah I’m just waiting for the word to deliver “Coal “ to y’all.- Darryl

OK Original Donors and Moab! I have another "ask". Coal is near completion. We have a choice to make. We can have Coal as is, just his mount. OR his mount placed upon the aspen pedestal. IF we wish for the added feature, it is an additional 200$. The choice is ours. The account is still open at Desert River Credit Union "Moabs Melanistic Deer"! Make certain you leave your name with your donation!

Darryl is a true artist! Coal is taking shape and he is as handsome as we remember him!

I know Moab could use a little good news.... there aren't many mule deer pedestal forms on the market , so I took a regular wall mount deer form and altered it to a pedestal form. I changed out the head and the position of it to fit Coal's head, added the scalloped back and after shaving down the neck a little more it should be a perfect fit for Coal. I plan on mounting Coal next week, so we are getting close to completion. The folks of Moab have a decision to make on which wooden base they want. The aspen wood base at $380 or the oak wood base at $250 or Moab can come up with their own base.... but I can't make the rock habitat base until I have the wood base in hand. It would be easier to pick one of these as they are both in stock and won't delay the mounting process. -Darryl
