Did you know this memorial existed to honor WW1 veterans from Polk County? That a young man related to a prominent family of Mitchellville is listed on the memorial? That he is buried in the Mitchellville Cemetery? Honor the Veteran, join the Centennial commemoration for our WW1 veterans long lost but not forgotten, our freedom exists because of their sacrifice.

Help. Help! We need help!! On behalf of the
Thomas Mitchell Historical Society I am asking and/or looking for recommendations for a licensed roofer that would be willing and able to volunteer to look at Mitchellville's Universalist Church's roof. The church, which was built in 1868 is in need of major updates that our budget does not allow. The decline of the roof seems to be accelerating, and we need a professional eye to tell us what is going on and maybe donate future labor.
