Trail Life 1611, Mitchell SD was honored to attend the Mitchell Memorial Day services, assisting in policing the brass during the Salute to the Deceased ceremony and chair clean up.

It was a meaningful opportunity to teach our young men about honor, tradition, and respect for those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. 🇺🇸

We are proud to help carry on these important traditions and remember the true meaning of Memorial Day.

Trail Life Troop SD-1611 held their Court of Honor this week to celebrate each Trailman’s journey along the Trail Life path.

Trailmen earning their Branch Patches are just beginning their adventure, learning the basics of Trail Life and preparing to explore God’s creation with curiosity, confidence, and joy.

Those receiving Branch Pins demonstrate growing knowledge and skills, much like a young tree taking root and growing stronger over time.

The Navigators Awards represent new skills and challenges that reflect time, effort, and perseverance.

May these achievements serve as reminders that the trail ahead calls for continued faithfulness, courage, and obedience to God’s leading.

Trailmen learn leadership by leading. We put this into practice by giving our navigators (boys ages 11-14) responsibility for the flag ceremony and prayer at every meeting. 🇺🇸

This week our trailmen learned about our state. We explored geography, history, South Dakota plants and animals, and state government. Most of the boys can find Mitchell on a map!

Today we hit the trail by visiting the DWU planetarium! 🌌

Dr. Farney and Dr. Lubben guided us through the spring constellations and deep sky. Our trailmen learned how to find different constellations, as well as the different star classifications.
