Lawrence County Suicide prevention Coalition

Lawrence County Suicide prevention Coalition Lawrence County Su***de Coalition was implemented September 2011. We had our first OOTDW, (out of the darkness walk), on June 23rd, 2012.

Our mission is to prevent su***de and attempts through public awareness and education, eliminate stigma and serve as a resource to those touched by su***de, and those who seek information relating to su***de prevention, grief support, education& resources This page is intended for information only, Some of the pictures are borrowed from other post, and our personal pictures from events and may not

be used, published or advertised by anyone else. The su***de/attempted su***de rate for Lawrence county and surrounding area's was high enough for the State to get involved and ask for a program to be implemented. We are now working with AFSP (American foundation for su***de prevention) to get people involved and being aware of the growing issues. We were very pleased at the turnout. We had 88 walkers some of whom were sponsoring loved ones that they have lost. We raised around $2,500.00 for this cause. The money raised went to the AFSP. We are currently working and striving to raise money for this cause and to be kept locally.

70% of adults in the US believe that most people who die by su***de usually show some signs beforehand.

If you’re concerned about someone in your life, trust your gut and reach out. Just being there for someone can make all the difference. Learn more about how to have a conversation at afsp.org/realconvo

Today marks the start of National Su***de Prevention Week. Here are some friendly reminders from the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention:
1. It’s okay to ask someone if they’re thinking about su***de.
2. If you think someone is struggling, trust your gut. Ask directly and listen.
3. Asking someone directly if they are thinking about su***de will not make them suicidal and can actually help.
Hoosiers experiencing emotional distress are encouraged to call the Be Well Crisis Helpline by dialing 2-1-1.
Together, we can help ***de.

❄️🥶 WINTER STORM WARNING🥶❄️

It looks like some real snow accumulation is coming, are you prepared? Well here are some safety tips and considerations!‼️

✅Keep your mobile devices charged in case of an Emergency 📱🚨

✅ Remeber your furry friends!🐶🐱 Bring them indoors! They will love you for it! And just think, would you want to be left out in the freezing cold? Didn’t think so!

✅Minimize travel! If able, keep a full tank of gas, leave with plenty of time for the commute and have an emergency travel kit in your vehicle!

✅Always check on family, friends, neighbors and loved ones! Especially those who may need special assistance!

✅ Be sure to shovel and clear driveways and sidewalks. Be mindful to not slip and fall or be out to long resulting in frost bite🥶

✅ If you don’t have to be out and about on the roadways, stay home🏠

Although our Officers are awesome! They get cold too and would appreciate not having to stand out in the freezing cold/snow due to carelessness on the roadways!

Let’s all get through this together🚔🖤💙🚨🇺🇸

Something no one tells you when you’re suicidal is that even the smallest people will remember you. They’ll wonder why you haven’t bought crickets for your reptile, where the pictures of your girlfriend went, or why their favorite cashier hasn’t been there for a while. People notice you. People love you. Even if it’s for your jokes, even if it’s for your patience, even if it’s just seeing you around. People miss you. People love you. People care.
I’m grateful for everyone who is still here today, no matter how hard it is. I love you.
