Southern Indiana Adult Guardianship Services

Southern Indiana Adult Guardianship Services SIAGS is a Volunteer Advocates for Senior Incapacitated Adults (VASIA) Program serving Southern IN, located at The Solutions Center

Our agency serves as the court-appointed guardian for adults with intellectual disabilities, dementia, and other cognitive impairments who are unable to make everyday medical and financial decisions. We operate as part of the Volunteer Advocates for Senior Incapacitated Adults (VASIA) program. Southern Indiana Adult Guardianship Services (SIAGS) provides advocacy and guardianship for at-risk and i

ncapacitated adults residing in Lawrence, Orange, Washington, Crawford, Dubois, Monroe, and Owen Counties in Indiana. Our goal is to deliver services in the least restrictive way possible while honoring the dignity and value of every individual we serve. We are supported by a team of trained volunteers who serve as the “eyes and ears” of the court. These volunteers visit clients monthly and have access to free continuing education on topics relevant to guardianship and elder care. We are still on the search for a perfect volunteer for our beloved Veteran!

He served us, now let's serve him! 🇺🇸

Volunteer Opportunity – Owen County, Indiana

A local veteran and double amputee is looking for something simple, yet incredibly meaningful—human connection.

He currently resides at McCormick’s Creek Rehabilitation Center and would greatly benefit from someone willing to spend time with him, talk, listen, and just be present.

🕒 Even a small amount of your time can make a big difference.
💬 Share stories. Offer companionship. Show appreciation.

If you or someone you know might be interested in volunteering, please reach out.

Let’s come together and support someone who has given so much.

This May, we gifted our amazing volunteers new SIAGS shirts to wear as they visit clients throughout our community!

A special thank you to SIAGS Volunteers Keaton Kimbley and Kennedy Bolin for helping show off the new tees, and to Lincks Clothing and Shoes for providing them. We appreciate all you do to support SIAGS and the individuals we serve!

This month, we had a very special visitor spreading smiles across the nursing facilities and group homes we serve 🐾💛

Meet Dottie! 🐶 A Bernese Mountain Dog puppy in training to become a therapy dog with one of our incredible volunteer advocates. With her sweet tri-color “tuxedo” coat and gentle nature, she brought so much joy and comfort to the individuals we support.

Moments like these show the impact our volunteers make every day. 💛

If you’ve ever thought about making a difference in the lives of vulnerable adults, we’d love to have you join us. Visit siags.net to apply to become a volunteer advocate.

Thanks to the Timeless Connections Grant, funded by the Lawrence County Community Foundation, we delivered care packages with handwritten notes from our youth volunteers to residents of Majestic Care of Bedford—and brought donuts and snacks too! 💛📝🍩

Many residents of care facilities don’t always get the attention they deserve, and we’re grateful for the chance to brighten their day.

Timeless Connections Grant — Where Generations Meet, Time Pauses ❤️

We’re incredibly grateful for the Timeless Connections Grant, made possible through a wonderful collaboration between United Way of South Central Indiana, Indiana 4-H Next Chapter (Merry Grant), Southern Indiana Adult Guardianship Services, and the Lawrence County Community Foundation.

This week, students from Mitchell High School spent the afternoon with residents at Mitchell Manor Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation — sharing conversations and laughter, playing table games, and surprising each resident with a thoughtful care package. These simple moments of connection created meaningful memories that touched everyone involved.

✨ A beautiful reminder that when generations come together, joy grows, perspectives deepen, and our community becomes even stronger.
