BIG DAY ON the Ohio River at Rocky Point! 40 plus teams.
The Mitchell Jr/Sr High School Bass Team competed against 43 teams from across Indiana in the Indiana Bass Federation Youth South Trail!
Our anglers absolutely crushed it. Here are the highlights:
Junior High Division
2nd Place: Rookies Braxton Cogwell and Parker Kern weighed in 3 keepers at 4.03 lbs in their very first tournament! Shoutout to boat captain Zack Kern
High School Division
2nd place Jett and Wyatt Blais (Captain Matt Blais) locked in a 5 fish limit for 7.41 for 2nd place.
10th Place Micah Potter Solo with 2.22 boat Captain Brian Woolston.
12th Place Kate Conner and Kaden Mikels one for 1.91 (Captain Kevin Conner)
15th Place Tajay Alexander and Ryliegh Torres brought in 1.57 for 15th place. (Captain Don Goldsberry).
17th Place Jeredon Sowder Solo with 1.43, boat Captain Brian Woolston.

🎣 CASTING CALL FOR BOAT CAPTAINS! 🎣The Mitchell Bluejackets Bass Team needs your help! We are looking for 3 substitute boat captains for our upcoming tournament. Here are the details: Date: Saturday, August 22nd Location: Rocky Point Requirement: Boat 16" or longer with working livewell and safety gear. Mission: Support our student anglers and get them on the water! Our high school anglers have been working hard all season. They just need a few more generous captains to help them compete. If you love fishing, mentoring youth, and spending a day on the water, this is for you! Interested or have questions? Let's get these kids fishing! 🔵🟡🐟 Note: This is the day before the IBF trail event at Rocky Point, so we should have plenty of IBF boaters willing to step up.

🎣 Tough conditions but HUGE results on the Ohio River! 🎣Our Mitchell Bluejackets Bass Team braved a scorching, brutal day of fishing out of Rocky Point on the mighty Ohio River today, and these anglers absolutely grinded it out! Here is how our teams shook out:🏆 JUNIOR HIGH DIVISION Lyla Stillions (Solo): Hooked a phenomenal 3rd-place finish AND grabbed the Big Bass award with a 2.58 lb chunk! Shoutout to Lyla and Boat Captain Tim Stillions. This stellar performance puts Lyla in a massive 2nd place overall for the season with 296 points—just 3 points out of the lead after three tournaments!Maverick Speer & Weston Davis: Crushed their very first tournament together with a strong 6th-place finish today alongside Captain Bill Thacker. They are already sitting comfortably in 10th place overall!🎓 HIGH SCHOOL DIVISION Kate Conner & Kaden Mikels: Fought hard to bring a full 5-fish limit to the scales weighing 5.56 lbs! Supported by Captain Keven Conner, they secured 8th place today and hold down a stellar 5th place overall in the season standings. Jeredon Sowder & Brayden Sanders: Battled the heat to take 12th place today with Captain Tommy Wilder, placing them 31st overall for the year. Ryliegh Torres & Tajay Alexander: Brought in 2.55 lbs to claim 16th place today with Captain Don Goldsberry. They sit right at 16th in the season standings with 231 points! Micah Potter (Solo): Matched the pace with 2.55 lbs to finish 17th today with Captain Tim Stillions. Micah is holding strong at 18th place overall after three events! Asiah Saunders (Solo): Fought the tough bite to finish 22nd today with Captain Kevin New, putting her in 29th place overall for the year. We are incredibly proud of the grit shown by every single angler and captain today. Heading into the fourth event of the season, the Bluejackets have 4 teams sitting in the Top 20! As we head into tomorrow's tournament, here is where our teams stand:🔥 Junior High: 1 team holding strong in the Top 3!🏆 High School: 2 teams dominating in the Top 5 for overall points!📈 Depth: 4 total Bluejacket teams ranked in the Top 20! Tomorrow, our crew is tackling the Ohio River out of Rocky Point. It is going to be a grueling day with an early morning commute to the ramp followed by a long, hot day on the water. These student-athletes have put in the work, and they are ready to produce some big bags! Come out and support these awesome anglers! We highly recommend each of our teams enter this tournament if your boat captain is available! If not you can always enter and fish from the shore around the Cutright ramp.

Mark your calendars! We’re officially 3 weeks away from our Kid & Co youth fishing tournament. 🎣 We’ve been closely monitoring the water levels at Lake Monroe. If we don’t receive any major rain between now and August 1st we should be able to go ahead with the tournament. 🤞🏻 Keep an eye on our page for updates.
