About Julia Fay Thompson
In honor of Julia Fay Thompson, Julia F. (“JFT, Inc.”) was established in 1997 to continue her legacy of service to the community. Julia’s lifestyle, career and outreach exemplified the motto, “Service to All Mankind”. Julia believed that education is an open door to greater opportunities and a better future. Lee High School in Tyler, Texas and Texas Southern University,
in Houston, Texas. While in college, she became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and engaged in worthwhile service projects. As a Crisis Counselor and Social Worker, she chose to help and serve those who were in physical, emotional, financial and spiritual need. Julia had a passion for helping young people and women as they strived to reach their goals. She also volunteered her time and expertise on various hotlines for su***de prevention, counseling abused women and the chronically depressed. Julia was diagnosed with Scleroderma Disease and had to endure chemotherapy treatment, however she did not waiver in her service and outreach to the community. She provided organizational expertise, leadership skills, and an energetic and sisterly spirit to the AKA Mu Kappa Omega Chapter. Julia succumbed to Scleroderma in 1985 at an early age of 32. In her memory, members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated – Mu Kappa Omega Chapter in Fort Bend County, Texas, named a scholarship and charitable organization in her honor to carry on the legacy of service to all mankind. is supported by over 300 professional women who believe in Julia’s cause to “service to all mankind”. Since all programs and services are provided by these volunteers, there are no administrative overhead costs to the organization.
