Who are you?
This question is arguably one of the most challenging to answer, regardless of one’s stage in life. But why is it so difficult?
From the moment we are born, we are immersed in a society shaped by countless norms and expectations. As vulnerable children, driven by a fundamental need to belong, we often conform to these parameters without question. This adherence can make it incredibly hard to step back and explore our true selves. The more rigid, restrictive, and adult-centric the environment, the less space and time is available for self-exploration.
Our culture tends to prioritize productivity, placing emphasis on what we do rather than who we are. The value of enjoyment, introspection, and personal discovery is often underestimated. Without intentionally cultivating time to build a relationship with oneself, it becomes nearly impossible to answer the question of identity in terms of being. Instead, our sense of self is often reduced to what we produce or achieve—measures typically dictated by societal standards.
At Innerverse, we intentionally create spaces for teenagers to connect with themselves, to ask Who am I?—not through the lens of societal expectations, but by exploring what truly resonates with them. By fostering self-awareness and encouraging introspection, we help young people discover who they are, not based on what they do, but on what makes sense to be.
Let’s redefine what it means to truly know yourself. 🌟
