Knowledge is power! Our Veterans should not have to see a Civilian Doctor nor should they have to register with the State to find some relief from their medical issues... Vote Yes on November 3rd!!!
Know the facts!
CI-118 nor I-190 affect the Montana Medical Ma*****na program at all. Like zero, zilch, none, nada.
In Montana, "recreational ma*****na" and "medical ma*****na" are defined as two separate things in law. They are in fact two separate subjects.
By law in Montana, any initiative like I-190 may only address a single subject. It's called the "single subject" rule. It says that since our law is about recreational ma*****na we can't address or affect or legislate another subject like "medical ma*****na" in our initiative. So I-190 by law, only affects the "recreational ma*****na" program.
Prohibitionists, like Steve Zabawa and his new allies (some of whom come from within the medical ma*****na community itself) want to suggest unintended consequences to the Montana medical ma*****na program because of CI-118. Those claims are false or and just plain ignorant of the law.
Here's the real Skinny on how CI-118 and I-190 work together to legalize, regulate and tax recreational ma*****na:
CI-118 gives the legislature or the people by way of the initiative process the ability to set the age of ma*****na consumption at 21. CI-118 doesn't set the age for ma*****na consumption, CI-118 just provides the constitutional authority to set the age to the legislature or the people through the initiative process.
I-190 (an initiative by the people) then comes along and legalizes, regulates, and taxes recreational ma*****na and sets recreational consumption at 21, leaving the medical program completely unchanged.
Those 18-21 will still be able to get medical ma*****na with a Dr recommendation as will all groups because I-190 leaves the medical program untouched. The tax on medical will remain the same because I-190 leaves the medical program untouched. The tax of 20% only applies to recreational ma*****na because, just to reiterate......I-190 and CI-118 leave the Montana Medical Ma*****na program untouched.
