If you've ever thought about bike touring but weren't quite sure you were ready ... hi 👋. This new route was made for you!

We're preparing to launch the Eastern Canada Route, an 800+ mile ride connecting Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Quebec City. The route passes through Montreal and Quebec City, cities that have unmistakable European feel and cycling infrastructure to match. In between are remote forests, shimmering lakes, quaint villages, and countryside that has absolutely no interest in rushing you.

This route links together some of Ontario and Quebec's existing regional bicycle routes, rail trails, and multi-use path networks into one seamless long-distance touring experience, with ACA's cue sheets and rider resources, designed to introduce our largely U.S.-based membership to a part of Canada that's more rideable than most realize.

What you will find is great riding, great scenery, approachable terrain, and the realization that you were ready all along. Three researchers put in the miles across three sections to make it happen. Launching this fall from Adventure Cycling!

It was so great to meet up with the legendary Meg Hackinen at the iconic Spoke'n Hostel in Mitchell, Oregon along the Golden Gravel Trail this week.

If you don't know, Meaghan is the current women's FKT record holder on the Tour Divide, coming in at a crushing 14 days, 10 hours and 2 minutes in 2026, for 1st place women's and 8th overall.

(She's also a fellow Adventure Cycling Association ambassador).

She has a laundry list of other FKTs and epic finishes under her belt, and she was kind enough to let us pepper her with questions about training, racing, nutrition, dating, sleep and sooooo many other things while we shared space at Jalet and Pat's amazing cyclist friendly Spoke'n Hostel along the GGT!

Meaghan and her awesome co-rider Adrianne Bouchard (who joined her for Boise to Port Orford on the GGT) are wrapping up the Golden Gravel Trail this week!

If you don't already follow this awesome human, go do it and cheer her on for an awesome GGT finish!

Pete and his son Zane finally closed the loop! They swung through our Missoula HQ having just finished the Great Divide from Jasper down to town, picking up right where a Covid-era ride from Roosville, Montana, to Antelope Wells, New Mexico, left off. Unfinished business, officially finished!

📣 The USDA says it intends to rescind the Roadless Rule, which protects nearly 45 million acres of National Forest land, including more than 25,000 miles of trails and 10K+ miles of mountain biking trails.

These are the kinds of undeveloped landscapes that routes like the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route and the Golden Gravel Trail travel through and near. If the rule is rescinded, some of these areas could see new road construction and logging, changing the riding experience for current cyclists and narrowing what's possible for future bicycle travel routes.

Meet Jen, scouting the final stretch of the Eastern Canada Route into the European-influenced heart of Quebec City.

She's toured in Western Samoa and Morocco, so knows a great route when she rides one. Jen is also fluent in French (which came in handy for this section of the route) and lives in Vermont. Thanks for helping scout the route, !

The riding here is exceptional, and that's no accident. Organizations like Vélo Québec and networks like the TransCanada Trail represent years of work by people who know this terrain intimately. We're just helping make sure more riders find their way to it.

Meet the Dragon Riders! 🐉 Larry, Alan, Kevin, Steve, and Alex are in the middle of a Drop-in ride on the Golden Gravel and have been having quite a time (both dodging fires but also meeting new people along the way, including our ambassador and rider extraordinaire, !)

This crew is proof that the ACA community knows no distance. They're a group of riders in their 60s and 70s from North Carolina, Massachusetts, and Italy who connected through ACA Companions Wanted and didn't meet in person until the ride began! This week brought a true East-meets-West moment at Bear Lake, Idaho, where the Dragon Riders (heading west) crossed paths with fellow riders Bergersride (heading east) with wildfire reroutes and all. Moments like these are what the Golden Gravel Trail is all about, free for everyone to ride, bringing people together one mile at a time!
