Your nervous system isn’t broken. It’s protective.

Your Autonomic Nervous System is always scanning for safety.

It has three main pathways:

✨ Sympathetic (fight/flight)
→ anxiety, urgency, irritability, racing thoughts

✨ Dorsal vagal (shutdown)
→ numbness, exhaustion, disconnection, “I can’t”

✨ Ventral vagal (connection & safety)
→ calm, present, engaged, able to connect

You don’t choose these states.
Your body does—based on what it thinks will keep you safe.

Healing isn’t about forcing yourself to “calm down.” It’s about helping your nervous system feel safe enough to come back online.

The 8 C’s of Self Energy

In parts work, healing isn’t about fixing yourself. It’s about accessing the part of you that was never broken.

Your capital-S Self naturally carries these qualities:

✨ Calm
✨ Curiosity
✨ Clarity
✨ Compassion
✨ Confidence
✨ Courage
✨ Creativity
✨ Connectedness

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, reactive, or shut down…it’s not that these qualities are gone. They’re just being covered by protective parts doing their job. The work isn’t to force calm or fake compassion. It’s to gently create space—so your Self can lead again.

Self-Compassion Starts in the Body

What if self-compassion wasn’t something you had to think your way into…
but something you could feel?

In somatic therapy, we gently turn toward the body—the place where our stories, stress, and survival patterns live. And often, beneath the tension or numbness, there’s a quiet invitation: to soften.

Self-compassion can look like:
💛 Noticing your breath without trying to change it
💛 Placing a hand on your heart when things feel overwhelming
💛 Letting your shoulders drop, even just a little
💛 Listening to what your body needs, instead of pushing through

You don’t have to force healing.
Your body already knows the way.

When we meet ourselves with curiosity instead of criticism, the nervous system begins to settle—and that’s where real change begins.

What is Wisdom of the Body?

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy assumes the body holds inherent knowledge and the capacity for self-regulation, which can be harnessed for healing.

At MCSP, therapists work with the individual’s unique wisdom to help navigate some of life’s challenges and also to help gain greater connection to self.

Healing Happens in the Body, Too

We often think of therapy as “talking it out”—but our bodies hold so much of our story.

Somatic psychotherapy is a gentle, body-based approach that helps you tune into physical sensations, release stored stress, and reconnect with yourself in a deeper way.

✨ Notice what your body is holding
✨ Build awareness and regulation
✨ Support healing from stress, trauma, and overwhelm

You don’t have to relive everything to heal—sometimes, slowing down and listening inward is where change begins.

Your body isn’t the problem. It’s part of the solution.
