Clark Fork Coalition

Clark Fork Coalition The Coalition believes that community vitality and watershed health are inextricably linked.

Founded in 1985, the Clark Fork Coalition protects and restores the Clark Fork River—Montana's largest river by volume—and its tributaries, employing science-backed strategies to protect the best and restore the rest. Founded in 1985, the Clark Fork Coalition is dedicated to protecting and restoring the Clark Fork River watershed, a 22,000-square-mile area draining western Montana and northern Ida

We wish to extend a heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us Tuesday at The Roxy Theater for The Water Keepers and Stories of Water Across the Landscape. We were thrilled to see a sold-out crowd come together to watch these films, ask thoughtful questions, and engage in positive, hopeful dialogue about the future of water in Montana.

We also want to extend a special thank you to our partners at the CSKT Tribal Council and Missoula Conservation District, as well as the filmmakers, producers, and panelists who shared their time, expertise, and perspectives during the post-film discussion. The energy in the room—including the depth of the conversation and the powerful examples of all the ‘good’ going on in our watershed today—was a salient reminder of how much people care about our shared rivers, streams, and the communities that connect us.

Thank you for spending your evening with us. We couldn't have asked for a better way to celebrate the people and partnerships working every day to care for Montana's waters. If you couldn’t make it, we’ll do it again soon. Stay tuned!

Not every Wednesday comes with live music, cold drinks, outdoor fun, and a chance to fold your own fish. 🐟

The Trails, Rivers & Forests Expo is happening tonight at Trail Head River Sports— co-hosted by Wild Montana and American Rivers— and we'll be there alongside a great lineup of local organizations and businesses celebrating the rivers, trails, and forests that make western Montana such a special place to get outside.

Stop by the Clark Fork Coalition table to create an origami fish, test your knowledge with river trivia, and chat with our team about what's happening around the Clark Fork watershed.

Sore muscles, muddy boots, and probably a few new blisters—but what a day. 💪🏼⛏

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us Friday for our Lee Ridge Trail reroute volunteer day in the Upper Lolo Watershed. Working alongside the Lolo National Forest crew, volunteers spent the day swinging Pulaskis, digging new trail tread, clearing brush, and spreading slash to reroute a section of trail away from an eroding area near Lee Creek.

By the end of the day, the crew had completed roughly the first 100 yards of new trail, reconnecting it with the existing biking and walking trail to Lee Ridge, and spread slash across the old route to help prevent future erosion—a tangible accomplishment after a full day of hard work.

The project supports ongoing efforts to improve stream health and fish passage throughout the Upper Lolo Watershed. Volunteers also got a firsthand look at a nearby fish passage project and learned more about the restoration work happening in the area.

Thank you to everyone who spent their Friday helping care for this special place. We couldn't do this crucial work without you!

📣🏔️Calling all Missoulians—share your opinions on tourism impacts!

Destination Missoula (Visit Missoula!), Missoula's destination marketing organization, is conducting their annual survey gauging how residents feel about tourism in our community—its benefits, impacts, challenges and opportunities. Released in an annual report by UM's Institute for Tourism and Recreation Research (ITRR), this data offers valuable insight into the perspectives of everyday Missoulians and helps inform local planning decisions that aim to balance area tourism and recreation with quality of life for residents and ecosystems. (Past reports are available on ITRR's website—link in comments.)

Thank you in advance for adding your voice to this important community temp check! 🙌
