Class alert!

It is time to get your outdoor mushroom garden growing! Kevin Kromarek of Clark Fork Cultures ( ) will be teaching everyone how to inoculate logs so that they will actually fruit in Montana. He'll go over the basics of inoculation, how it works, and how to do it yourself. Then we get out the drills (feel free to bring you own corded drill if you have one)!
Everyone leaves with an inoculated log to take home!

When: May 12th 5:30-7:30pm

What if we had forest management policies that drew upon the intelligence of fungi and symbiotically worked with them to retain water, grow soil, and promote biodiversity? You can help make this happen!!

These upcoming community meetings will be a great opportunity to speak up for the fungal kingdom. An official public comment period is likely happening in the summertime. The WMMA had a large impact the last time this came up, our voices do make a difference! Here are the dates/locations for the meetings:

•April 21- Thompson Falls HS 5:30-700
•April 22- Seeley Lake Community Foundation Ctr 5:30-7:00
•April 23- Superior Ranger Stn 5:00-6:30
•April 27- UM ACI auditorium Missoula 5:30-7:00
•April 28- Virtual 5:30-6:30

A simple statement about the economic, social, and ecological importance of fungi can really help shape the process. Hey all!!

It’s been raining! Time to come together in all of our woodsy glory as the fungal folks we are.

Meet Caitlyn!!

Caitlyns is a brand new board member, and already has brightened up the WMMA with her positivity, organization, and great energy! Caitlyn has long admired our curious little fungi friends, a fascination and love that deepened when she attended her first foray in 2022 and discovered the incredible WMMA community. Although a bit of a fungi novice and brand new to the WMMA board, Caitlyn is excited to welcome fellow beginners into the mycological world in the same way she was warmly welcomed. While she is working on broadening mycological knowledge, she brings experience in nonprofit management, organizational strategy, and community building. Caitlyn works in operations at Missoula Food Bank & Community Center and is passionate about social and food justice. When she isn’t foraging in the woods, she's usually trail running through them!
