The Solidarity Project Our Mission: The Solidarity Project supports Honduran leaders who create positive social change for their communities and cultivates transnational partners

The Solidarity Project (TSP) is a nonprofit organization that implements community-driven development projects. We believe that community members are best equipped to identify and respond to community needs. TSP functions as a granting agency providing financial resources and leadership support to Honduran community leaders with innovative ideas for social change.

Last week in Ocotal, Honduras, something special happened đź’›

We brought together 40+ women and community leaders for a hands-on entrepreneurship workshop—combining baking skills, business training, and food safety education.

After a year of learning baking with our intern Julia, participants took the next step with volunteer Kat Pineda (MBA), who shared practical tools on how to start and grow a small business. The Red Cross also joined us to teach essential food hygiene practices.

Each participant left with a starter kit—and more importantly, the confidence and knowledge to begin turning their ideas into income.

As Julia shared: “We are a strong, united group—and we know we have the tools we need to move forward and be successful.”

We are so thankful to Kat for coming all the way to Honduras and volunteering with The Solidarity Project!

El Carrizal

We’re excited to share the progress of the new classroom construction in our beloved El Carrizal community.

This project is becoming a reality thanks to the support of our donors and the hard work of community members who are generously volunteering their time and effort. Together, we are building more than walls — we are building hope, opportunities, and a better future for our children and youth.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support and believe in this dream. Step by step, we keep moving forward together.

At our recent Mesa Comunitaria micro-grant event in La Laguna, we gathered with our Honduran partners to share ideas and invest in what matters most to the community ✨

Three proposals emerged:

*Lighting for the community meeting space
*Improvements to the kindergarten
*A kiosk at the bus station

After thoughtful discussion and collective decision-making, the community of La Laguna chose to move forward with the bus station kiosk 🚌

This is what community-driven development looks like—local leadership, shared decision-making, and real investment in the future.

We are so grateful to be part of it đź’™

“Chispa”—Spanish for spark—is one of our core values at The Solidarity Project. It’s that contagious, life-giving energy and passion that brings people together and fuels meaningful change.

For us, community-driven development is about so much more than funding projects—it’s about nurturing connection, joy, and shared purpose. With partners like Soroguara, we see chispa come alive through moments of laughter, play, and genuine community bonding.

We love seeing this vibrant energy shine at our Mesa Comunitaria Micro-grant events!

Community Meeting – Coa Abajo

In a positive and hopeful atmosphere, the Coa Abajo community gathered to kick off new projects for 2026.

Two proposals were presented:
-Electricity project
-Bathroom doors for the community plaza

After an organized and respectful vote, the electricity project was selected — a step that will bring greater safety and well-being to everyone

With the support of the Solidarity Project, led by Director Melissa Raudales, the community continues to lead its own development.

Because when people participate, real change happens
Coa Abajo moves forward with confidence in 2026!

We’re excited to host our first Virtual Health Fireside Chat of the year!

By popular request, we’re welcoming a clinical psychologist to lead a conversation on menstrual health — a topic that is too often overlooked or kept quiet. When we don’t talk about it, women are left without the tools and knowledge they deserve to understand an essential part of their health and their bodies.

Let’s change that together.

Join us this Friday, February 27th, at 7pm for an open, informative, and empowering conversation.
