Our Mission: The Solidarity Project supports Honduran leaders who create positive social change for their communities and cultivates transnational partners

The Solidarity Project (TSP) is a nonprofit organization that implements community-driven development projects. We believe that community members are best equipped to identify and respond to community needs. TSP functions as a granting agency providing financial resources and leadership support to Honduran community leaders with innovative ideas for social change.

For many girls living in rural areas of Honduras, getting their first period can be a confusing and difficult experience. Without access to the right menstrual products or reliable information, some girls may even miss school.

The Solidarity Project is launching a campaign to provide First Period Kits to girls ages 10–13 in rural schools.

Each kit costs just $10 and includes essential menstrual products along with educational materials to help girls understand and feel more confident about this important stage of their lives.

Our goal is to support more than 200 girls by promoting menstrual health, education, confidence, and dignity.

A $10 donation can help a girl experience her first period with the information, support, and dignity she deserves.

Every girl deserves to feel prepared—not embarrassed or left behind.

A DREAM IS COMING TO LIFE IN EL OCOTAL

What happens when you give children the opportunity to discover their talents? Something beautiful begins.

In El Ocotal, a new generation of young musicians is learning, practicing, and dreaming together.

Behind this project are volunteers giving their time, knowledge, and heart to help these children grow. We are incredibly grateful to Lic. Josué Lanza, Nain Escoto, and Anabel Ordoñez for sharing their talents and supporting the children throughout this journey.

And, of course, none of this would be possible without the parents and community members who continue to encourage and support the children.

This is what The Solidarity Project is about.

We don’t simply want to provide resources. We want to help communities create opportunities that can continue growing long after a donation is made.

In El Ocotal, instruments are becoming music.
Music is becoming confidence.
And confidence is becoming dreams.

Community Meeting – El Ocotal Community

Today, we’re highlighting an important step toward creating new opportunities for the children and families of El Ocotal.

In an atmosphere of participation, dialogue, and transparency, community members gathered for a Community Meeting, with the participation of community leader Marilin Raudales, Ledis Escoto, Lic. Ivania, parents, and Project Director Melisa Raudales.

During the meeting, two proposals were presented to improve the local school:

-New flooring for the school
-Construction of a stage for educational and community activities

Parents had the opportunity to openly discuss both proposals and, through a free and transparent vote, democratically selected the project they felt would have the greatest benefit for their community.

This project will be made possible with the support of The Solidarity Project, which continues to work hand-in-hand with communities to support initiatives that come directly from the needs, ideas, and decisions of the people who live there.

This is more than building a stage. It’s about creating a space where children can learn, express themselves, celebrate, and bring the community together.

We are grateful to every parent, community leader, and resident who participated in this process. Their voices matter, and their involvement is what makes these projects truly community-driven.

When a community comes together, participates, and believes in its own potential, dreams can become reality.

Lighting the way in El Cantoral!

Today we proudly celebrated the inauguration of a new solar street lighting project in the community of El Cantoral—a milestone made possible through the collaboration between The Solidarity Project and the local community.

This project is a great example of what can happen when people come together with a shared purpose. The Solidarity Project contributed L 20,000 for the solar lights, while the community invested L 12,625 in materials, labor, and installation. We also repurposed donated water project pipes, valued at L 16,800, as light poles—showing that creativity and teamwork can go hand in hand.

We’re especially grateful for the donation of sand, the leadership and support of Melissa Raudales, our Director of Projects, and the incredible dedication of our Community Board and local leaders who helped turn this vision into reality.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and skills—digging holes, installing the poles, welding, and working tirelessly under the sun. Your commitment made this project possible.

At The Solidarity Project, we believe sustainable change happens when communities are empowered to build a better future together. This is more than just lighting streets—it’s about creating safer communities, strengthening partnerships, and bringing hope one project at a time.

Building Spaces That Inspire Community & Education

We recently held a Community Roundtable at the Ana García de Hernández School to present and discuss an exciting new project: the construction of a school stage that will serve both students and the entire community.

During the meeting, community leaders, parents, and local residents came together to share ideas, discuss the vision for the project, and reaffirm their commitment to making it a reality. This future space will not only support school activities, performances, and celebrations, but also create new opportunities for community events and connection.

Projects like this remind us of the power of working together to create environments where education, creativity, and community can continue to grow. Thank you to everyone who continues to support and believe in these efforts. Together, we are building more than structures — we are building opportunities and hope for future generations.

Last week in Ocotal, Honduras, something special happened 💛

We brought together 40+ women and community leaders for a hands-on entrepreneurship workshop—combining baking skills, business training, and food safety education.

After a year of learning baking with our intern Julia, participants took the next step with volunteer Kat Pineda (MBA), who shared practical tools on how to start and grow a small business. The Red Cross also joined us to teach essential food hygiene practices.

Each participant left with a starter kit—and more importantly, the confidence and knowledge to begin turning their ideas into income.

As Julia shared: “We are a strong, united group—and we know we have the tools we need to move forward and be successful.”

We are so thankful to Kat for coming all the way to Honduras and volunteering with The Solidarity Project!

El Carrizal

We’re excited to share the progress of the new classroom construction in our beloved El Carrizal community.

This project is becoming a reality thanks to the support of our donors and the hard work of community members who are generously volunteering their time and effort. Together, we are building more than walls — we are building hope, opportunities, and a better future for our children and youth.

Growing Together in El Tule

We’re proud to share the progress of the new pavement project in the El Tule community. Thanks to the support of our partners and the incredible teamwork of local leaders and community members, we are creating safer roads, better access, and new opportunities for families.

At our recent Mesa Comunitaria micro-grant event in La Laguna, we gathered with our Honduran partners to share ideas and invest in what matters most to the community ✨

Three proposals emerged:

*Lighting for the community meeting space
*Improvements to the kindergarten
*A kiosk at the bus station

After thoughtful discussion and collective decision-making, the community of La Laguna chose to move forward with the bus station kiosk 🚌

This is what community-driven development looks like—local leadership, shared decision-making, and real investment in the future.

A big thank you to nutritionist Dr. Vanessa Mota for sharing her expertise with our Honduran partners! Her guidance on using food as medicine to prevent and manage chronic disease and her practical tips for building healthier daily habits supports stronger, more resilient communities.
