🌲Whitebark Pine Ecosystem Foundation volunteers Tony Pori and his former student recently surveyed whitebark pine trees selected for monitoring at Brundage Mountain in Idaho. They located, photographed, and documented the status of each tree.

Ongoing data collection is critical for the conservation and restoration of high elevation pines, and we are so grateful for volunteers that help make that data collection possible. 🌲

🌲 Summer is here—which means it’s time for alpine adventures and observing whitebark pine! 🌲

Your observations are more than just data—they’re helping make whitebark pine restoration possible. By identifying healthy, cone-producing trees, you’re helping scientists and land managers locate potential seed sources for future restoration.

Every observation makes a difference, and your summer adventures can help shape the future of whitebark pine. 💚🌲

Join our incredible volunteers as they sow whitebark pine seeds at Forest Service’s Coeur d’Alene nursery!

These seeds, from the Kootenai and Idaho Panhandle National Forests will germinate in approximately two weeks and will grow in the Forest Service greenhouse for two years before being transplanted in the wild. 🌲

🌲Hear from the incredible volunteers that helped plant over 26,000 whitebark pine seeds 🌲

The WPEF team returned to the Coeur d’Alene nursery to help plant whitebark pine seeds— and even got to check in on last year’s seedlings, which are thriving! The seeds our WPEF volunteers planted will germinate in approximately two weeks and continue to grow in the Forest Service greenhouse for two years before being transplanted into the wild.

✨Huge thanks to all of volunteers and the nursery staff!
