Monday, August 31, is International Overdose Awareness Day. In recognition of this important day of remembrance and action, the Missoula Drug Safety Coalition is offering FREE Overdose Prevention & Naloxone Trainings at the Scheels Training Center in Southgate Mall and at the Missoula Public Library.

In this hands-on training, you'll learn how to:
- Recognize the signs of an opioid overdose
- Respond confidently in an emergency
- Administer naloxone, a medication that can reverse an opioid overdose and save a life
- Free naloxone kits will be provided to participants.

Whether you're a parent, friend, neighbor, service provider, or simply someone who wants to be prepared, everyone is welcome. Together, we can reduce stigma, increase awareness, and help make Missoula a safer, more compassionate community.

Back to school is a great time to reinforce positive health and safety behaviors with your teen! As they continue to gain independence, take time to have honest and supportive conversations with them about safe decision-making.

💊Substance misuse: Make time to talk with your teen about the risks of substance misuse, including drugs, alcohol, ni****ne, and prescription medications.

🏈Sports safety: If your teen plays sports, be sure that their safety equipment fits properly and is and up to date. Learn the symptoms of concussion and adhere to the school's concussion procedure.

🚗Safe driving: Reinforce safe, distraction-free driving, and continue to practice driving with your teen, especially if their trips to school or extracurricular activities involve new routes or traffic patterns!
