🎒 It's , and Libby Food Pantry, one of our GO! Grantees, is making sure no child in Libby goes hungry over the weekend.

Libby Food Pantry provides food for eligible individuals and families without discrimination, and through their "Feed Libby's Kids" program, they send food-insecure kids home each weekend with breakfast, lunch, and snacks. The program reaches students from preschool through high school at Central School, including children already eligible for Libby School District's free lunch program.

Their work builds more than weekend meals, it builds the security of knowing that a child's hunger doesn't take a break just because school does. This September, we're celebrating the rural heroes making that possible. 🍎

September is . About 1 in 8 Montanans, including 1 in 6 kids, experience food insecurity. In rural counties like Lincoln, Sanders, Glacier, and Mineral, those numbers climb even higher, where long distances, limited grocery options, and higher food prices can make it harder for families to get what they need.

SNAP helps nearly 87,500 Montanans put food on the table each month, and kids make up almost 40% of the people it serves. But the average benefit of $146 per person per month doesn’t go nearly as far in rural and Tribal communities, where groceries can cost even more.

Across Montana, communities are finding ways to close those gaps. School and community gardens, mobile markets, and Tribal-led food sovereignty efforts are helping families access healthy food while building stronger local food systems.

Local people, local food. 🌱

The O'Hara Commons & Sustainability Center, one of our GO! Grantees, is strengthening the local food system in Hamilton and Ravalli County.

Through a year-round farmers market, an online Winter Market, food access programs, community gardens, and place-based learning opportunities, O'Hara Commons connects neighbors with fresh, local food while supporting the small-scale producers who grow it.
Their work builds more than a food system, it builds a resilient and self-sufficient community where local dollars stay local and everyone has a seat at the table. 🥕

We sat down with Emily Allison of Bridgercare to talk about reproductive health care in Montana, why access matters, and what Bridgercare is working toward.

In this clip, Emily talks about how reproductive health issues often get treated as separate, when they’re deeply connected. From birth control and pregnancy care to affordability and access, it all comes back to making sure people have the support they need to make the choices that are right for themselves and their families.

Through our Family Power Fund, we’re supporting Bridgercare’s research, storytelling, and public education efforts to help more Montanans understand why reproductive health care matters, address misinformation, and build support for continued access to care, especially in rural communities.

A warm meal, a friendly face, a place to belong. 🍲 Shekinah Kitchen, one of our GO! Grantees, is helping bridge the hunger gap in Plains, MT.

Each week, their dedicated volunteers serve free, nutritious in-house and on-the-go meals to anyone who walks through the door. Shekinah Kitchen is a resource for people from all walks of life, and for many guests, it's the only chance they get each week to visit with someone outside their own home.

From weekly meals to their beloved annual Thanksgiving Dinner, Shekinah Kitchen shows what it means to welcome, support, and love a community, one plate at a time. 💛
