Last fall, Tanya Lambrecht and her 8th grade class from St. Matthews in Kalispell took the top spot in our One Pill Can Kill Billboard Contest! Their powerful artwork went from the classroom to a Montana M**h Project billboard in the Flathead Valley, helping spread an important message about the dangers of Fentanyl.

Fentanyl prevention isn’t just one day a year, Prevention is every day.

We launched our Fentanyl Prevention Program with a goal of educating every Montana teen about the risks of Fentanyl. We have reached many communities so far, but the work has only just begun.

Fentanyl can be found in illegal drugs of all kinds, including counterfeit Pills, M**h, and even Ma*****na. That means experimentation has never been more dangerous—and knowing the risks can save a life.

Teachers, Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day is a reminder that prevention starts with education.

As you head back to the classroom, consider making Fentanyl education part of the conversation with your students.

Know the signs. Know what to do. Save a life.

An opioid overdose can happen fast. Look for signs like slowed or stopped breathing, pinpoint pupils, clammy skin, discolored lips or fingertips, or someone who won’t respond to your voice or touch.

If you suspect an overdose, call 911 and give naloxone if it’s available. You could be the reason someone gets another chance.

The best way to prevent an overdose is to never take the risk. Illicit pills can contain Fentanyl, and you may not know what’s actually in a pill or how much Fentanyl it contains.

One Pill Can Kill.

Thank you to Kaden's family for allowing us to share his story. People like Kaden, who's forever age is 20 thanks to Fentanyl, are the reason we work to confront this deadly drug crisis. No family deserves to lose their loved one. Fentanyl's reach is widespread and its impact is devastating across every community.

Illegal Fentanyl has been found in He**in, M**h, Ma*****na, as well as pills made to look like prescription drugs, such as OxyContin®, Percocet®, Vicodin®, Xanax®, and Adderall®.

Fewer fentanyl seizures doesn't mean the danger is gone.
New Montana data shows Fentanyl seizures declined slightly in early 2026, but M**hamphetamine seizures increased 133% and co***ne seizures doubled. The drug landscape is constantly changing, and prevention has to change with it.

The takeaway? Every conversation matters.

Whether it's Fentanyl, M**h, counterfeit pills, or other substances, young people deserve honest, fact-based education before they're faced with a decision.
