In honor of International Overdose Awareness Day, we invite you to share a story, memory, photo, or tribute honoring someone who has been lost to overdose or whose life has been impacted by overdose.

Please take a few moments to complete our short tribute survey and help us honor the people and stories behind overdose in our community. Your submissions may be featured on social media and displayed as part of a tribute poster at our International Overdose Awareness Day Remembrance Ceremony.

The Remembrance Ceremony will be held Monday, August 31 at 7:00 PM at the Silver Park Pavilion in Missoula. The event is free and open to everyone and will include shared stories, luminaria decorating, a reflection walk, and a special closing ceremony.

We had a great time joining the Blackfoot Clearwater Neighborhood Watch and other community partners at the first-ever Public Safety Fair in Seeley Lake this past weekend!

Our team enjoyed connecting with community members and sharing free resources and information on overdose prevention, su***de prevention, and ways we can all help keep our communities safe and healthy.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello, ask questions, and learn more. We appreciate the opportunity to be part of this wonderful community event and look forward to next year!

Missoula Public Health (MPH) and the City of Missoula Fire Department (MFD) are launching the Naloxone Leave-Behind Program to expand access to lifesaving overdose prevention resources and reduce the number of overdose deaths in Missoula County.

MPH’s Missoula Drug Safety Coalition provided kits for all MFD engines, ambulances and ladder trucks. Each kit contains naloxone nasal spray, along with educational materials and information about local treatment, recovery and harm reduction resources.

Naloxone is legal to carry and is a safe, easy-to-use medication that can rapidly reverse the effects of an opioid overdose and restore normal breathing while emergency medical care is on the way.

Public health officials encourage anyone who may witness an opioid overdose, including friends, family members, caregivers and community members, to carry naloxone and learn how to recognize and respond to an overdose.
