Mississippi’s First Walk for Freedom
Did you know more people are enslaved today than at any other point in human history? Whether an individual is trafficked through the commercial s*x trade or is a victim of child labor--we believe the responsibility is on us to advocate for those whose voices are not being heard.
In 2017, a group of committed college students at Mississippi State University did just that and organized Mississippi’s first ever A21 Walk for Freedom. A21 is an international non-profit who works tirelessly to reach, rescue, and restore victims of human trafficking. Their most far-reaching awareness and fundraising campaign each fall is the Walk for Freedom, and last fall, over 400 cities and 50 nations decided to join them.
In 2017, we raised over $3000 and saw close to 200 individuals show up to speak out against modern-day slavery. This year, we are aiming to raise $6000, which is enough to provide 60 rescued victims of human trafficking with the after-care needed to restore them to a life filled with hope and, most importantly, freedom.
Here’s the thing: WE CAN’T DO IT WITHOUT YOU.
