Hidalgo Watercolor Society

Hidalgo Watercolor Society The HWS is a group of artists in the Hidalgo county of southern Texas. We are dedicated to exploring this medium via group activities and exhibitions.

Currently the HWS is a group of about 50 watercolor artists from the Rio Grande Valley. The organization is most active during the winter months when the attendance is greatly increased with the arrival of many members who are seasonal residents. The main activities of the organization are painting together once a week, sponsoring a week-long watercolor workshop in Jan. or Feb., and hosting an ann

ual exhibition during the month of February. The Hidalgo Watercolor Society, under the umbrella organization - Upper Valley Art League - shares the use of the Kika de la Garza Art Center in Mission, Texas. Membership in UVAL is $35/year, and an additional $10/year fee is required for membership in HWS. The HWS has exclusive use of the ArtLink workroom for members to paint together on Fridays. In February each year, the HWS has use of the Gallery for an annual member exhibit. Once a year the organization hosts a week long watercolor workshop, taught by a different visiting artist each year.

2023 Figurative Art Exhibit
This exhibit represents a variety of mediums by our local member artists. This exhibit will be on display through October 28th. Gallery hours at the Upper Valley Art League are 10am to 6pm Wednesday through Friday and 10am to 2pm on Saturdays. This event is FREE and open to the public!
