🇺🇸 Troop 84 in Service 🇺🇸

This past Saturday, Troop 84 had the honor of participating in Rio Grande Valley Memorial VFW Post 8788’s Flag Retirement Ceremony. Our Scouts joined in a tradition that reflects:

✨ Service to our Community – coming together in respect and reverence.
✨ Service to our Veterans – standing beside those who have defended our freedom.
✨ Service to our Nation – properly retiring our nation’s flag with dignity and honor.

Did you know? Scouting America is one of a limited number of organizations, besides the U.S. Government, authorized to conduct flag retirements.

If you have a flag that is ready to be retired, please reach out to Rio Grande Valley Memorial VFW Post 8788 or Troop 84. Together, we’ll ensure it receives the respect it deserves.

🎼🏕️ BROTHERS. BAND. AND THE SCOUTING ADVENTURE. ⚜️👬

Got more than one son—and they’re already busy with things like band, sports, or school clubs? That’s exactly why Scouting fits.

At Troop 84, brothers can grow together in Scouting, while still following their own path—on their own schedule, with their own passions.

🎺 One might be a trumpet player.
🥁 The other might love camping or STEM.
🧭 In Scouting, there’s room for both to shine.

Scouting isn’t about making kids choose—it’s about adding purpose, leadership, and outdoor fun to the incredible things they’re already doing.

✅ Shared values
✅ Individual journeys
✅ One family
✅ Lifelong benefits

Let your sons be brothers, be Scouts, and be themselves.

AUGUST 1ST

Today we celebrate all the young men and women who have achieved the highest level of rank in Scouts BSA - Eagle Scout. Over the years we have had the privilege of walking this scouting journey with some of the most curious, courageous, and motivated scouts. A front row seat to watching them grow into fine young men and women who we know will make great leaders one day.

🌄 Dads. Sons. Adventure.
Sometimes the best moments are found in the shade of a pine tree after a tough hike. 💪🌲 Along a mountain side. 🏞️ Or at the mountain peak. 🏔️

Scouting isn’t just for the boys — it’s a challenge for dads too. A chance to step away from the noise, take on the trail, and build something stronger than just campfires: unforgettable memories.

🤝Join us tonight 7pm at Mission Lions Park

👟🧭 Take the challenge. Lace up your boots. Lead by example.

Together, we grow. Together, we lead. Together, we Scout. 🟡⚜️

🌄 We Made It Home! 🏕️

For the first time since 1996, Troop 84 Mission returned to Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico — and what an unforgettable adventure it was! 🙌

Our Rio Grande Council, Scouting America crew took on a 9-day northern trek to Baldy Mountain, pushing through the rugged beauty of the Rocky Mountain foothills. We hiked through sunshine ☀️ (sometimes too much!), rain 🌧️ (definitely too much), and under a blanket of stars ✨ (never enough).

Along the way, we encountered mini bears (chubby squirrels… we think 😅), rocky terrain, and challenges that tested us in our preparation physically and mentally. But with determination and teamwork, our scouts conquered every obstacle.

And the reward? A breathtaking view from 12,000 feet above sea level that made it all worth it. 🏔️

This journey strengthened our troop, created lasting memories, and reminded us of what it means to embrace adventure, push limits, and stand tall together.

Philmont 2026, anyone? 😉
