THE MISSION OF SICANGU CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES IS TO:
Preserve, protect and strengthen the children and families of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe. Provide culturally appropriate and sensitive services to children that meet family needs. Provide services through an efficient and effective service system that will enable families to work within their own Tiospaye to ensure the safety and well-being of
their children. Place children who are removed from their parents with relatives when appropriate or with a tribally licensed home. Protect the bond between the Rosebud Sioux Tribe and its children and culture by promoting the security and stability of children and families. To be a resource family for our program, we require that you complete pre-service training and ongoing training hours annually, have an openness to maintaining birth family connection for the child, meet state licensing standards, are willing to partner with a social worker and other professionals to meet the child’s needs and agree with our policy that physical discipline will not be used. Does this sound like a lot? But at our program, we believe children deserve nothing less. It is not an easy task. Being a resource family is very challenging. But it can also be very rewarding as you make a difference in a child’s life. Chances are, it will change your life too!! WHAT IS THE PROCESS TO BECOME A LICENSED RESOURCE PARENT? The overall requirements consist of:
3 hours of Orientation
30 hours of Pre-Service Training
