Rotary Mission Viejo was part of the “Tuesday on the Terrace” event yesterday at the Norman Murray Center. This monthly event attracts lots of people who want to hear great music, dance, and have fun. The event allows our club an opportunity to speak to people about Rotary and also raise funds that support all of our great projects throughout the year.

Today our club welcomed Monica Peters, Governor for Rotary District 5320. Monica gave our club a wonderful overview of her vision and goals for the district but also touched upon the vision of Rotary International Global President, Olayinka Hakeem Babalola. What a fantastic opportunity to understand how all members of Rotary are part of a larger world effort to do more and contribute more to helping others.

Yesterday we held our August social event with members and guests at Piccolino Ristorante. It was an evening of great food and wonderful conversations. Many spoke about the connection that is felt at Rotary - the togetherness by doing things together as a group, helping our community and others around the world. Service Above Self.

Consistency is what matters! Each month, the Rotary Club of Mission Viejo works with the Second Harvest Food Bank to provide food (groceries) to seniors and those in need. Today was our latest effort. We greatly appreciate our partnership with Second Harvest and the Norman P Murray Center. Through the generosity of these organizations and and the efforts of Rotarians, we impacts thousands of lives. Service Above Self.

Today we welcomed Leslie Baer Dinkel from the Huntington Beach Rotary Club who presented the Guatemala Thrive Project. This project, which is led by Leslie and her husband Mel, manages six major grants supporting 62 villages across the country. Their work impacts thousands of lives of those living within impoverished areas. Please refer to the enclosed photos for more information on the areas they affect - clean water, educational facilities, etc.. It is this type of work is what makes Rotary extremely effective throughout the world - putting investment and effort directly where it’s needed. Service Above Self.

This past weekend the MV Rotary Club participated at the Annual Mission Viejo Symphony in the Cities event. The event allows Rotary the opportunity to raise funds to support its various projects throughout the year. The event showcases the Pacific Symphony and hosts thousands of local residents who love listening to great music.

Today we honored several members of our club for earning The Paul Harris Fellow award. This award honors individuals who contribute—or have someone else contribute in their name—at least $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation. Several of those shown in the images below have already donated multiple amounts of the initial $1,000 amount. It is with this generosity that the Rotary Club of Mission Viejo is one of the most impactful clubs in the area helping those in need. Service Above Self.
