Tonight we celebrated the accomplishments of our outgoing president, LaVal Brewer and officially welcomed our incoming president, Jay Minor. In addition, our incoming Board Members were presented to our club. Congratulations to everyone who makes the Rotary Club of Mission Viejo so successful.

This week we honored our annual Rotary Mission Viejo Rotary scholarship recipients. These young adults have demonstrated their leadership and achievements and, moreover, their hard work and determination to do well in the world and our community. Congratulations to all our winners. Today we welcomed Lorenzo Garcia as a new member to the Mission Viejo Rotary Club. We are so fortunate to have Lorenzo given his background in professional technical sales.

Additionally, we congratulated Tony Cristiano for achieving his Rotary Blue badge, which requires satisfying a number of steps and dedications to our efforts as a club. Service before Self.

Today we headed into the Rotary Garden, which sits on the Oso Trail. Here our leadership spoke about the strong history of our club, which is now over 50 years old. Their presentations highlighted how our past members did so much to give back to Mission Viejo and beyond. Their commitments and leadership helped pave a way for everyone who is part of our club today.

Our speaker at today’s meeting was Liz Rohleder, Volunteer Royal Kids Camp in Mission Viejo. Liz presented the amazing work done by her organization that provides care for underserved children in need in the form of a summer camp. The camp is life changing for those who attend. Today we welcomed Dave Hannah as a new member of the Mission Viejo Rotary Club. Dave is the Co-founder/Chairman Ambassadors of Compassion, which is an organization that helps students and youth build resilience and flourish in life. We are grateful to have Dave as part of our club.

Yesterday we held the Mission Viejo Rotary Club’s 4th Annual Chili Cook off. What an event! There were more than 400 attendees experiencing chili from nineteen skilled chili chefs. Rotary was able to raise thousands of dollars for Mission Viejo High School college scholarships and other local causes. Thanks again to all chefs for their participation.

Today is the big day! Come all Chili fanatics. Doors open at 11am. Norman Murray Center in Mission Viejo. Raising money to help local high school students go to college AND other great causes.
