πŸ“¦ Before You Donate Your Garage Sale Leftovers… Please Consider Angels in the Attic πŸ’œ
As garage sale season is in full swing, many families find themselves with leftover items at the end of a sale, or perhaps you've been doing a major clean-out and have boxes of items you'd love to see put to good use.
While it may be easier to drop everything at a donation center with 24-hour access, we would love to ask that you consider Angels in the Attic.
We serve women and children escaping domestic violence, helping them rebuild their lives and create a safe place to call home. When families arrive, they often leave with little more than the clothes on their backs. The everyday essentials many of us take for granted suddenly become overwhelming expenses.
Items we are always in need of include:
πŸ‘• Clothing for women, men, teens, and children (all sizes)
πŸ‘Ÿ New or gently used shoes
πŸ› Bath towels, hand towels, washcloths
🚿 Shower curtains and liners
🍽️ Dishes, silverware, pots, pans, and kitchen essentials
πŸ›οΈ Bedding, sheets, comforters, mattress protectors (all sizes)
🧸 Toys, books, games, and stuffed animals in excellent condition with all pieces included
πŸ‘Ά Baby items and essentials
🏠 Household necessities that help turn an empty space into a home
The financial burden of replacing these basic necessities can be overwhelming for a family starting over. Through your generosity, we can help relieve some of that burden and provide dignity, comfort, and hope during a difficult chapter of life.
If you're planning a garage sale, cleaning out a storage unit, downsizing, moving, or simply decluttering, and have items left over that you'd rather donate in bulk than list individually, please keep us in mind.
And if you don't currently have items to donate but would like to make a difference, we're always looking for volunteers to help sort donations, organize inventory, and prepare essential items for families in need.
Every item. Every hour. Every act of kindness matters.
πŸ’œ Thank you for helping us help our neighbors rebuild their lives.

Angels in the Attic would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County, Indiana for their pledge of $35,000 investment in our Crisis-to-Stability Transportation Grant we submitted!

As a 100% volunteer-run nonprofit serving survivors of domestic violence and their children throughout Michiana, we understand that transportation is often one of the greatest barriers families face while rebuilding their lives.

Because of the Community Foundation's support, we are moving closer to acquiring a dedicated transportation vehicle that will help us safely transport survivors and children, assist with relocation efforts, deliver beds, furniture, and household essentials, and expand services throughout our region.

Grant opportunities such as this are critical to organizations like ours. They allow us to dream bigger, serve more families, and create long-term solutions that directly impact the people who need help most.

We are incredibly honored to partner with the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County on this initiative and are deeply grateful for their confidence in our mission and the work being done every day by our volunteers.

Together, we are helping victims become survivors.

One Last Push

Three days ago we asked for help.

Not for ourselves.

For the women. For the children. For the volunteers.

For the people who depend on Angels in the Attic every single day.

We refuse to allow a stolen camera to weaken our mission.
Instead, we're using it as an opportunity to make our facility stronger, safer, and more secure than ever before.

If you've been considering donating, now is the time.

If you've already donated, thank you.
If you cannot donate, please share this post.
Together, we've always accomplished more than we ever could alone.

Together, we're stronger.
Together, we're safer.

Safety Creates Healing

Many of the children we serve have experienced trauma.

When families walk through our doors, they deserve to know they are entering a safe place.

The recent theft reminded us how important it is to continue improving security around our facility.

Every contribution helps us move one step closer.
Current Goal: $2,000

Help us create a safer environment for survivors to rebuild their lives.

Protecting The People Behind The Mission

Did you know?
Every single person you see working at Angels in the Attic is a volunteer.
No paid staff.

Just people who care enough to give their time.

The security upgrade fund isn't just about cameras.

It's about protecting the volunteers who make this mission possible.

Thank you for helping us keep them safe.

A Camera Was Stolen. Safety Won't Be.

When someone steals a security camera, most people think about the camera.
We think about the people.
The mom arriving for help.
The volunteer staying late to sort donations.
The child walking through our doors.
Those are the people we're protecting.

Help us upgrade our security and lighting systems.
Goal: $2,000

COMMUNITY STRONG. SAFETY FIRST.

Our warehouse security camera was stolen.
But this story isn't about what was taken.
It's about what comes next.

Because Angels in the Attic serves women and children rebuilding their lives after abuse, safety must always remain a top priority.

Today we're announcing our Security Upgrade Fund.

Goal: $2,000

This project will help us install upgraded cameras and lighting to better protect survivors, volunteers, donors, and community partners.

If you've ever wondered how you can help AITA, this is one of those moments.
