Last Friday we were out at Green Bridge Growers helping plant seedlings and new plants, plucking dying leaves from plants and helping auger holes in the ground!

It was a sobering meeting today, given the news story coming out of Elkhart yesterday. Thank you to Rita Brockie from Grace Journey for sharing with us about your organization's work with individuals fleeing from domestic violence. It was a stroke of luck that our friend Kristine Kuroski from Angels in the Attic also happened to be in attendance today. The work you both do is so important in a world that seems to be getting more and more violent. Only working together can break the cycle!

Some great things happening at our Rotary Club! Enjoyed hearing from Tama with PopiCon!. If you're a board game or roll playing game fan and looking for something to do January 31 and February 1, check them out, it promises to be a great time! We also awarded our club's fantasy football league winner with their "Championship Ring" – congratulations Jim Wiskotoni. And we talked about an upcoming Euchre night we are co-hosting with Granger Sunrise Rotary and Roseland Rotary Club on February 6.

From glow stick batons to Big Ten dreams!

Most people see the sparkle at the parade. What they don’t always see is the confidence being built behind every spin, throw, and catch.

Through Spotlight Performers, kids right here in our community are learning discipline, teamwork, ambidexterity, leadership, resilience, and joy. Some are brand new. Some are competitive. Some dream of twirling in college one day. All of them are finding belonging, confidence, and opportunity through the art of baton twirling.

This year alone, nearly 70 kids will be twirling in our local light parade. Twenty of them are on our competition team, training harder than ever and representing our community across the state.

We are incredibly proud to support this growing youth program and the impact it is making right here in Mishawaka and South Bend. When we invest in kids, we invest in the future.

If you see a glowing baton this weekend, know that you are watching more than a performance. You are watching confidence in motion.

Today we visited our friends at Angels in the Attic for a day of service. This is our second visit as we help them organize their warehouse. This group does amazing work in our community and we are honored to pitch in and give them a little help!
