I wanted to clear up the status of the Life Station organization & property usage moving forward. Life Station hs been closed for years. However, the property was given to Bashor Childrens House in good faith to keep it as a community outreach oriented property. Almost immediately Bashor House turned around and sold it to one of their largest donors Genesis Products for 1 million contingent on re-zoning. If we are able to stop the rezoning, we may be able to convince Bashor House to follow through with their original commitments. Even though we do have other equestrian organizations that are interested in the property, It may not ever be an equestrian property in the future but hope it will be of such that benefits the community. It will be up to Bashor Childrens House to decide. The goal is to gain enough signatures as we can to help the St Joseph County Council’s decision to vote down the rezoning. If the rezoning is approved, it will never be what it is now. Industrial zoning opens up the door to just about any type of business for usage. Keep in mind the proposed facilities are larger than either of the Hummer plants on Mckinley.
