Hey Sandy Island Week 6, as you make your preparations for camp please be aware that our store ice machine is down at the moment. We are currently using ice from the kitchen machine but there is a limited supply. We are hopeful to get someone to look at the machine this week but it is not confirmed at this time. Plan accordingly and spread the word.

It's been too long since I posted on social media! It's Week 3 here at Sandy. Right now, at 10:30 in the morning the music is blaring from the waterfront because the teens are playing water polo, I can hear the cheering of someone getting up on water ski's, I just watched the Little Reds walk by the playground on some sort of adventure/nature walk, Bill Becker is teaching water color in the craft shop and the kitchen is busy making lunch. It's a good day. :)

WE ARE HIRING!! Our service crew is looking for a few more members to round out our crew. Do you know someone 16 or older who is looking for a summer job? Working at Sandy Island is a very rewarding experience. We are a great place to work whether you are anywhere from 16 to 60! It's Monday of week 1 and the kids are gathering for morning program!

The softball game was played yesterday, campfire songs were sung and s'mores were eaten.

This morning construction workers arrived early to finish Breezeway.

It feels good to have the Sandy family all together again!

We cannot express our gratitude enough to all the human beings that have worked so hard over the last two weeks to make this happen. We're so close to the finish line.

Breezeway is being worked on on Monday and wired for electricity on Wednesday. 🙏🏽

Thank you for your patience, campers, as we navigated this wild time.

And we are so thrilled to introduce you to the three new cabins (well, two and a half new cabins) at Sandy Island! We can’t wait to welcome week one tomorrow!

A Message from Kate LeMay, Executive Director

As many of you know, Sandy Island Family Camp was impacted by a microburst on June 18, resulting in damage to three cabins: Winni, Morpheus, and Breezeway.

We're happy to share that repairs are already underway, and we expect 2 of the 3 effected cabins to be rebuilt and ready for Week One. Campers in the effected cabins have been notified. We are incredibly grateful to our staff, contractors, donors, board members, Sandy Island families, volunteers and the YMCA of Greater Boston leadership team for their tremendous support and hard work in making this possible.

Because of this strong community, camp is on track to open July 4 as planned. When you arrive, the biggest changes you'll notice are a few extra logs on the south side—and some brand-new cabins.
