🩺 TRICARE Travel Benefit
TRICARE Prime beneficiaries may qualify for reimbursement of travel expenses when referred for specialty care that is not available within their local network, helping reduce the financial burden of receiving necessary medical treatment.
💙 Benefits Increase for Catastrophically Disabled Veterans
The House has passed the Sharri Briley and Eric Edmundson Veterans Benefits Expansion Act, which would increase benefits by approximately $10,000 annually for veterans receiving the highest levels of Special Monthly Compensation (SMC) while also expanding support for surviving spouses and families receiving Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC).
✈️ Honoring the Flying Tigers
An A-10 assigned to Moody Air Force Base has been painted in a special scheme honoring the legendary WWII Flying Tigers, preserving the heritage and legacy of those who paved the way for today’s Air Force.
📢 AFSA Legislative Priorities
✔️ Pay Our Troops Act
Ensures service members continue receiving their pay during any future government shutdown, protecting military families from financial uncertainty.
✔️ Protecting Veteran Access to Telemedicine Services Act
Makes it easier for veterans, especially those in rural areas, to receive healthcare through telemedicine, reducing travel and improving access to treatment.
✔️ CHIP IN Act
Expands public-private partnerships to help build and modernize VA healthcare facilities faster while reducing costs to taxpayers.
✔️ Protect Our Veterans’ Disability and Retired Pay Benefits
Safeguards the disability compensation and retirement benefits that veterans have earned through their service and sacrifice.
✔️ Veterans National Traumatic Brain Injury Treatment Act
Creates a five-year pilot program focused on improving treatment and care for veterans suffering from Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
✔️ Major Richard Star Act
Would allow combat-injured veterans who were medically retired with less than 20 years of service to receive both their military retirement pay and VA disability compensation.
✔️ Retired Pay Restoration Act
Expands concurrent receipt by allowing military retirees with service-connected disabilities to collect both their earned retired pay and VA disability compensation without offset.
AFSA continues to advocate for policies that strengthen the quality of life, healthcare, and economic security of Airmen, Guardians, veterans, retirees, and their families.
